My Grandma and Uncle collected a ziplock bag full of fresh redwood sap when I was 12 or so. We would burn sap on small pieces of charcoal on different days, using store bought sap or sap we would occasionally come across, but always saving the redwood sap.

A decade later and a couple years after my grandma died, (her name was Gohar, but we called her "mesmom")we burned that last bit of the sap she picked years before, on the grass she was buried below.
