So excited to be hosting a mix from one of my favourite Eora (Sydney) locals, @djscorpion3000 - a talented DJ and an important member of the music community.

DJ Scorpion aka Amelia Jenner, worked as the music director of FBi Radio for the last few years, is a co-founder of the ever inspiring NECTAR ( @nectarsydney ) agency and collective, and hosts the local imprint / radio show @bodypromise alongside @hed-ardennes.

It's safe to say that Amelia is someone who's input and involvement in the local scene I find genuinely inspiring, but beyond that, her skill and on-point taste as a DJ really shines through in this driving, club-energy fuelled mix <3

Flo co-founded Laib und Seele Records in 2019 during his search of self-realisation, which landed him a residency at Netil Radio London. In 2020, he initiated Traumburg Festival with close friends. Since the beginning, he placed a special focus on a unique curation and booking, which our crew at VK always appreciated. Most recently, Flo founded his own booking agency Noise Neighbours. His creative output is shared with his alias DJ Very Well.

VisionsCast 025 with Dj Very Well

Musician, producer and audio engineer Andrew Nerviano’s work under the Plebeian moniker over the past several years is nothing if not distinctive; a heady blend of syrupy low-end, delicate sonic accents, and swirling rhythmic figures that give his work a hypnotic, psychedelic quality that’s as evocative as it is unique. Bringing his brand of shapeshifting techno to French label Grid this year, the artist has put forth a four-track EP titled Contrast, merging adventurous, deep-listening sensibilities with a driving focus on the dancefloor.
Based in New York, Nerviano was a cornerstone of the label and party series Sweat Equity, which saw early releases from Ben Ritz, Overland and Deli Girls, among others, a string of projects tied together by sonic intensity and Nerviano’s work engineering and/or mastering each of the releases on the label. During that time, he was conceptualising and honing the dimensions of the sonic palette of his own project, delving into modular synthesis, digital processing and a hybrid studio practice that mixed a range of outboard gear with a range of compositional techniques.
He would follow up a pair of records on his own imprint with releases from Munich’s Molten Moods and Ronan’s Eternal Ocean imprint, as well as contributions on releases from UWU Dust Bath, Pseudonym and Index, before announcing his latest with Grid this spring. The record in draws its core material from a set conceptualised and performed at the inaugural edition of Dripping, a music fest organsed in New Jersey by fellow New York techno mainstay Relaxer.

I recorded it on a warm Tuesday night in Dylan’s set up (thank you Dylan) except I swapped out a turntable for an XDJ. In retrospect it was a bit stupid to record a mix on an alien set up knowing that it would be on Soundcloud forever (or until it has to shut down) but it was a fun challenge. I also had an idea to mix more ambient/downtempo tracks which are a bit more reflective and require less ‘mixing’. I have had lots of time to reflect this year and have had lots of space to myself for better or worse and lots of these songs kind of match this although I did get a bit jumpy and played more rhythmic tracks about half way through. There are tracks from artists I like as well as tracks from artists I do not like. There is audio clippings from birds I also like and also some searing political, sporting, economic and philosophical commentary. There is good mixing, bad mixing and just straight up blunders (sorry to the strokers out there) but I hope you can just press play and let this mix fill up your background as you do more important things. Thanks again for letting me contribute to such a G series, you guys rock (metallica emoji).
