Born and raised in Canberra, 21 year old PARISI has had the taste for house music his whole life. Covering a range of genres from House to Garage, he enjoys all sounds that get the body moving. Having supported acts such as Chris Lake, Weiss, Will Clarke and Jordan Brando, he has plenty of dancefloor experience. Taking inspiration from artists such as PAWSA, Patrick Topping and Luuk Van Dijk, you can expect to feel the groove during all his sets.

Born out of a love for Ngunnawal/Ngambri's beautiful surrounds, a passion for music, and an aversion to UV rays, Sunburn began as a good excuse to get outside and listen to loud music. Our aim was to reduce the barrier to entry for people to enjoy, create and perform music and art in a scene which often takes itself too seriously. 

As the years have come and gone both the events and the soundsystems have gotten bigger. The fun has remained and we hope it does for many more years to come. In this way we hope to foster diversity and add to the strength of the music and arts scene.

DUDJ Mix Series 031: Sahana Desert

Following Mercia’s first official release and remix of I Still want in 2021, the Coventry based artist offers a full EP which consists of 5 pieces which explore and reflect his home town within the setting of breakbeat and UK bass. 6am starts off the exploration with ethereal atmospheres and lush piano before exploding into a full bodied breaks journey. 95 Bones’ remix follows this with a club ready acetate driven flip of the original which continues the story. The title track City Of Villains and Kiddah remix adds further spark to the package with a searing sub bass which is riddled with deep energy a syncopated reese bassline sharp breaks and shining accents before the EP is rounded off by the bubbling and energetic Hill Cross Flyover which closes out this journey channeling how we've all been feeling this past year waiting for the return of the dance; it carries Strictly Rhythm influence and a prescient vocal motif.

This DJ has been studying the Mycological Wizardry at Orthanc for the past 15 years. In complete isolation from the world, Discobasis has gained a deep and historical knowledge into the primordial life of the mycelium that covers the entire surface of the planet. 

Through his studies, Discobasis found mycelium to be very responsive to certain sound waves and thus provides us with a mix to energise and invigorate these ancient beings.

Cat is one of Ngunnawal’s/Canberra’s local talents with an appetite to boggle your brain and shatter your spine with electro, acid, and breaks. Cat’s sound has been regularly displayed on capital soundwaves since debuting last year for kinetics. Her energy-packed sets have featured on Gross Motor Play and Sunburn, as well as on support for artists such as Kettama and DJ Boring. Cat has emerged as a regular in the ACT.

"Compliments is a non-binary dance music producer from Huddersfield, based in London. Their work is heavily influenced by the percussive UK styles of jungle, garage and bassline, with a pinch of nü-metal’s distortion and adolescent energy thrown in for good measure.

Tomgirl, their newest release on Mantissa, showcases these stylistic influences across four tracks that move between wonky 4/4 techno, amen-heavy jungle, spacey 140 and swampy chugging house, playing with the idea of floating somewhere between masculinity and femininity, hard and soft.

After experimenting with samples of their own voice on their debut album ‘The place where my voice should be’ (self-released in March 2022), the EP builds on this technique to create eerie atmospherics and strange rhythms in a more club-focused and dance floor orientated zone.

Tomgirl is topped off with a remix by Bristol’s Bex, channeling a potent strain of bassy, stepping techno that her productions and DJ sets have become famous for."
