The iconic song Your Love by Frankie Knuckles with lyrics by Jaime Principle, has been a guiding light in the music scene since its debut in the 80s. This house anthem has remained in the hearts of electronic music enthusiasts, evoking a poignant context with dark nuances that are simultaneously provocative and sensual. This song invokes the nostalgia of the days when the rave culture was taking shape and accompanying a musical revolution.

For Galope Messier, it represents a union of fundamental pillars that have propelled society and left an indelible mark on his identity as an artist : "In the history and creation of this track, we discover the essence of celebration and the growing need to find euphoria on the dance floor, the representation of Afro culture in music production, the proliferation of non-heteronormative spaces, and the spirit of free will that inspired the youth of that era."

Following the success of our inaugural Shades Of Summer compilation last year, we are back with Volume Two. For this album we have extended the album to ten tracks, once again casting our next around the globe for artists that capture the essence of Summer in their own inimitable style.

Opening the album we have Sydney's Mooglepuff, with the wonderful nostalgic glow of her 'Subtropic Vision'. Faint Waves reports in from Missouri with the hazy, dreamy 'Windward Dream' and Budapest duo Pleasure Voyage return to the label with their ode to summer 'Endless Days'. From Los Angeles, Midnight Mystery Club up the energy through their organic and groove-laden 'Church In Ibiza'. Over in Warsaw, ZAL delivers a slice of irresistible warm electronica on 'Simple & Easy'. Nicolas Kotowicz presents the late night house jam 'Ce Soir' from Russia, while the UK is represented by Lucky Sun's languid beach chiller 'Ocean Dreams', Desert Island Disco's smooth italo-house 'Te Revoir'. Rounding off the album falls to transatlantic due Tomas Malo and Joe Morris in their Acolyte guise with the anthemic, deep house 'Shame'.

Nonna Fab is a core part of Sheffield’s progressive music scene, founding Apricot Ballroom, Footprints Jazz Club, Jazz On The Park Festival, and his band Fuji Speedway. He’s also part of the consortium behind Grub Records, a new record shop and wine bar opening this summer. As well as regularly playing as part of his duo with Apricot Ballroom, Nonna Fab’s back catalogue of releases explores house, boogie, jazz and broken beat.

This release shows an organic curation of instruments, touching on live elements, jazz improvisation and dance-floor orientated rhythms. We Still Out Here began a few years ago as a nod to the iconic NYC post-disco and proto-house sound, and to serve as a message that there are still producers out here working on and inspired by that sound.

D.J. Rogers (DeWayne Julius Rogers) released the album «It’s Good To be Alive» back in 1975, it’s a fantastic soul album, ear candy from beginning to end, I highly recommend this gem, a cure for heart and mind.
I was looking for samples but ending up here with a stable edit of the track « (It’s Alright Now) Think I’ll Make It Anyhow».
I had fun in the process and would like to share.

Hitting their tenth release, Heels & Souls Recordings journey to South Africa reissuing Hot Slot Machine’s pioneering and sought after self-titled album from 1992. Cultivating a sound and vibe that took South Africa by storm in the early '90s, the six track LP took influence from the genres that drifted over the Atlantic from the US and UK. From house and R&B, through to soul, hip-hop and reggae - creating a rhythm-driven, bass-heavy blend of them all, repackaged with a township flavour.

Known to many as Joe Nina, Makhosini Henry Xaba’s early forays into production would help lay the foundation for the infectious, groove-laden genre that would go on to be labelled as kwaito. With two albums already under his belt as T. McCool and King Rap, aged just 16 Makhosini wrote and produced Hot Slot Machine with the help of Gerdes Chessman - an LP that was far beyond both its time and his youthful years.

Striving to imitate the heavy house sounds inbound from the UK and America, artists like Blackbox and Ten City became big influences. Hot Slot Machine radiates with those impressions, providing something unique in South Africa in the early ‘90s. Leaning more into house and hip hop than the disco-flavoured bubblegum rhythms, the tracks were richer in sound, heavier on the synths and powered by rattling basslines.

Undeniably infectious and unquestionably well put together, the album contains six hits and no misses. With the chunky hip house grooves of ‘Rhythm’, ‘Unchain My Heart’ and ‘Shake Ya Down’, running side by side with the low slung, magnetic bounce of ‘Lookin’ Mix’, ‘I’ll Be Ready’ and ‘Lovin’ Mix’.

Sadly the tapes were long lost, so the wizards Sean P and Justin Drake ripped and restored the album, with Justin giving it a well-deserved remaster. Licensed from Gallo with the blessing of Makhosini, this truly must-have LP now comes complete with a printed inner sleeve housing liner notes and never-before-seen photography.

Kadhim has made his mark as a melodic house and techno producer with several successful releases of late.
