A mix tape demo for a club night in Edinburgh or Glasgow in the late 1990's. The sound quality is reasonable and the mixing could be better but I liked the flow of the tunes and the overall progression.

Defo Demo One

A louder version of a two sided tape recording from the Venue, Spennymoor in the mid 1990's. Sadly the club was hit , likely by a rival club, in an arson attack which led to the demolition of what used to be an iconic local cinema and picture house.

Tape from 1993, recorded live from the hardcore / rave all night club in Northern England. This club was hit by an arson attack and the next local club after that became the Colosseum in Stockton. Perhaps a coincidence(?) but the rival club to this, The Venue in Spennymoor, was also hit by an arson attack in 1995 and left the Colosseum as the main club in the Northeast to play hard Italian and Euro house and trance music as well as hardcore and Scottish bouncy techno.

My name is Stuart Niven but some people used to know me as DJ Torsion when I used to play a variety of Italian, Spanish and other European house, trance and hardcore at parties in the North East of England in the mid 1990's as well as Scottish bouncy techno and hardcore, hard and acid techno, hard house and Euro-trance music in clubs in Glasgow, Edinburgh and sometimes Leeds in the late 90's. I started DJ'ing when I was about 14 and bought a pair of basic turntables and mixer, then about a year later upgraded in 1994 to belt drive Soundlab turntables then in 1997 splashed out and bought some Direct Drive technics MKII SL-1210's which I still own and they still work perfectly. I was very active as a raver and clubber in the 90's ,moving away from the scene in the 00's but never stopped loving the music which I listen to every day while working and driving. I am hoping to start mixing again and recording it for the world to hear so watch this space for new uploads!
