Wade in the Water - Ailene & The Monkeys

"Write about love," my friend said. "But," I whined," I don't know what love feels like anymore!" As soon as I said it, I thought, "how sad. Does anyone really forget falling in love?" My friend started talking about electric/telephone wire lines, and that kind of sparked a poem. When I finished, it wasn't working as a poem. I whipped out my phone and recorded this, and I think it kind of works better as spoken word. Almost forgot all about it, actually. Posting it here just in time for this Favorite Poetry Project that's been going around via email. Maybe will make the music bed for this one... someday.
