Despite the troubles globally faced in 2020, it’s safe to say that The Allergies bucked the trend and came back by ultimately having a rather glorious year. Releasing their fourth studio album, achieving the ‘A List’ on BBC Radio 6 Music and Radio Eins in Berlin, climbing high in the NACC US college charts, and generally receiving critical acclaim from a world that had an understandable appetite for some joyful and fun music in their lives.

2021 shows no signs of things slowing down. The heat continues for their 2020 album Say The Word with Pioneer, Liptons and IAMS all taking Allergies tracks for their global advertising campaigns. Rather than rest on their laurels, though, the guys went full lockdown creative and have their fifth album due for release in September, 2021.

“Jumping Off” was the first new track from the album to be debuted at the end of 2020 – A self-sampling version of their 2018 track “Main Event”. As with all Allergies tracks of late, the limited 7” release caused a Discogs feeding frenzy.

Now, The Allergies power forward with the first single of the 2021 album campaign – An absolute dancefloor destroyer featuring legend of the mic, Dynamite MC, entitled “Lean On You”.

The Allergies first hooked up with Dyna on previous album Say The Word for the fan favour-ite “Hot Sensation”. But, scheduling clashes with Dynamite’s own album release meant that a single outing for that track was not possible.

No such issues this time round means The Allergies kick off their 2021 album with a serious club and radio contender to move things to the next level.

It’s a stylistic new lane for the Bristol-based beatmakers. Their trademark heavy drum chops now flowing on half time tempos, with blues guitars riffs front and centre. The perfect back-ing, then, for the UK rap legend to find his theme and raise the roof.

The 7” is backed by “Working On Me” – A classic Allergies-style screamer with a taste of funky swamp rock, updated for your favourite dancefloor/kitchen/outside space, with five other people…

Time to bust out those shades as we have two brand new blasts of sonic sunshine from Bristol beatmakers, The Allergies.

‘Move On Baby’ finds the duo on career-best form. With their sampling savvy hitting new heights, as vintage rhythm ’n’ blues vocals ride highly re-energised Latin loops, and some seriously funky drums.

Totally their signature sound – Tough beats, catchy hooks and horns, and feel-good dancefloor vibes – But turned up to 11. It’s got "Sound of the Summer" written all over it, weather permitting.

Also shining bright is B-side banger, ‘Are You Ready’. This stomping soul sensation features LA rap legend, Andy Cooper [Ugly Duckling] and the powerful pipes of Miss Marietta Smith.

The peak-time powder keg is set to detonate on this one. And the call-to-arms manifesto gives you the full Allergies’ band stage show experience in one beefed up jukebox single.

Since You’ve Been Gone

The Allergies have developed a reputation for producing dancefloor assaulting 45's that regularly sell out and this release is no different as You Wouldn't Know fuses upbeat soul jams with their trademark energetic breaks driving underneath the catchiest of vocal hooks.

'I just want to get funky for you today' is the opening statement on Special People and that's exactly what they do as this B-side keeps the party going. Supplied with copious amounts of percussion breaks, jazz flute and a sweet bassline in a groove that could make even a statue dance, there is more funk packed into this track than an out of date stilton.

All killer and no filler all the way through on this 7inch so probably best you do yourself and your record collection a favour and sort one out.

The duo of DJ Moneyshot and Rackabeat have been delighting dance-floors and lighting up the radio airwaves since forming The Allergies and releasing their debut album in 2016.
 
Year in, year out, they’ve sharpened their skills on the turntables and in the studio, dropping one dynamite record after another.
 
Clocking up A List status and Album of The Day gongs at BBC 6 Music, as well as sound tracking international ad campaigns, the pair show no sign of stopping the fun.
 
They’re about to cut the ribbon on their fifth album, Promised Land. Another showcase for their feel-good funk, soul sampling savvy, and party-starting hip-hop.
 
As usual, the Bristol-based beatmakers have assembled a crack team to help bring their loops to life. LA rap legend, Andy Cooper (Ugly Duckling) is back on board, alongside the mighty pipes of Marietta Smith (House Gospel Choir) – Both staples of The Allergies live show act.

Plus, guest spots from some super special MCs from both sides of The Pond, and quite possibly the most explosive sample-heavy tracks of their career, so far.
 
Over the last year they found some light amongst the darkness, seeking out solace and release by making beautiful music, dug from old record stacks. And they can’t wait to get back on the road, letting everyone back into their world, once more.
 
The pair first bonded over this love of funky beats after meeting on the festival circuit. Moneyshot had already made a name for himself as a resident on Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel radio. Gaining worldwide fame for his DJ mixes, with Rolling Stone magazine ranking him in their ’25 Greatest Internet DJ Mixes of All Time’ feature.

And Rackabeat, a successful drum ’n’ bass producer, had already banged out a string of releases, including remixing global dance music icons, Groove Armada.

Mixing this keen ear for a sample, and some polished studio knowhow, provided the perfect formula for The Allergies sound. Inspired by producers like Cut Chemist, Public Enemy’s Bomb Squad, and the kaleidoscopic sampledelica of acts like The Avalanches and vintage De La Soul, they raid the past to make music for the future.

Tracks like ‘God Walked Down’, which is racking up millions of plays on Spotify, and internationally playlisted hits like ‘Felony’, and ‘I’m On It’, are prime examples of The Allergies vision – To take dusty grooves from forgotten wax and pull out soulful hooks, add hip-hop energy and driving drums, to make something new and exciting that hits your heart, as much as it does your dancing feet.
