Over The Rainbow

For a two year period of my life, I lived an hour and a half east of the Blue Ridge Mountains  Many times, I commuted through these mountains to Staunton, Virginia.  It's true what they say, the mountains have a beautiful blue-green tint to them.  After frequenting a stop at a look-out platform off the side of the road, I came home and came up with this ragtime arrangement of this iconic American folk song by John Denver.

Nocturne in A Major

A popular torch song written by Harold Arlen and first performed in Harlem in 1933.  It went on to be featured in a musical film by the song's same name, "Stormy Weather." The film was released in 1943, and featured the most prominent African-American entertainers of its day in a leading role during an era when African-Americans were rarely offered leading roles.
