This mix bounces between bass-heavy broken beats, stacked rhythmic percussions, and the more "classic" 90s style breaks. Breaks come in so many styles, so JEM had a lot of fun stringing together all these different subgenres.

Out to Lunch Ep. 11 w/ Crash Landon - Live on Radio alHara 12.24.2024

Singaporean Electronic Duo .gif returns deeper with their 2nd full-length album following from their extraordinary debut, Soma. Here we have a mixture of downtempo, trip-hop and elements of slow driving Techno, phasing between cosmic chugging rhythms and spellbinding vocal melodies. By Integrating all these pieces, tension and resolve are a strong key in their songwriting, all of which are executed delicately through the use of bold loops, hypnotic bass lines and tech-noctic sentiments. 

This 2nd album by .gif is definitely a different sound from their usual, expanding on their sound palette while keeping rooted in their influences and foundation they have built since day one. A much refreshing sound from the duo,

North Carolina's Nadia Khan first appeared to us at Phonica when we heard her excellent release on Brooklyn label Scissor & Thread back in 2018, an exercise in subtlety and restraint, which is a delicate balance in a lot of ambient music. A later cassette only release on Where to Now was another example of  'less is more' and that is definitely the ethos of Nadia's mix for Off The Record.
So sit back and enjoy almost an hour's sonic journey of melodic ambience and delicate evolving textures . The mix features tracks from D.K. , Huerta, NewWorldaquarium, Fred P, Exael and Christopher Rau, amongst others. Enjoy this immersive deep-listening experience from Nadia Khan.
