Intricate Records announces the oncoming release by the Russian producer Fon.Leman, who is currently residing in Ural region. A 3-track EP will feature original versions of «Converted Universe», «Mental Cell» and «Muse Collector».

«Muse Collector» was already a highlight of Intricate Records summer sampler, having received a tremendous amount of positive feedback and comments a la «very epic progressive» and «professionally produced track with proper mixdown and mastering ». Another proof of Alexey’s remarkable skills is the multiple appearance of this track on Above & Beyond radio show playlist. Besides that, although «Muse Collector» is already a hit that made it big, it is accompanied by two other productions of the same quality, atmosphere and overall technical construction. Pleasant melodies and tender vocal inserts along with the thoughtful deepness of sound and rocking groove are characteristic for every track on this EP, have turned into Fon.Leman's trademark quite a long time ago. Some fans already named his style «accelerating progressive», although it is described – simple but tasty – «Ibiza-style».

A talented producer from the city of Yekaterinburg, Alexey Mazhaev, the man himself behind the alias «Fon.Leman», got over a thorny path from broken beat rhythms to uncompromising, hard techno grooves. During his musical career, Alexey devoted himself to a wide variety of experiments with sound, starting from street hip-hop and ending with the audio atmosphere of railway stations and noise background of construction plants. The latest, but definitely not least station where he stopped is the world of magical trance melodies and mystic depth of progressive house. Today, his tracks see the light of day on labels like Bomba Records and Silk Music, are often featured in podcasts by the big names of contemporary dance music industry like Jaytech, Dinka and Gareth Emery, and in top level radio shows including Trance Around The World, where the works of the Ural producer are supported by Above & Beyond themselves. Now is the time for Alexey to sign his debut release to Intricate Records.

The EP including three tracks, «Converted Universe», «Mental Cell» and «Muse Collector» will be released on Intricate Records in September 2012. It will be available for public on Beatport.

Derek Kaye married his schoolboy passions of music and electronics in 1973 when he constructed his first disco sound system, aged just 13. Prior to this, with DJ equipment something of a rarity in those days, he created a custom setup that bypassed the need for a mixer by rewiring his turntables in such a way that he could flip the sound from one deck to another, and installed a switch that would dip the music so a microphone from a portable cassette player could be used to announce the song on rotation. His work soon grew in sophistication and a new console was built, with his schoolmate, Greg Wilson, buying Derek’s old rig, thus beginning his own well-documented DJ career.

Over the past 40 years, Derek has continued to DJ in and around the North West, both in residencies and guest spots, and his passion for music and electronics are still just as strong. His enviable studio has gone through the transitions of working with notator (the forerunner to logic) on the studio essential Atari 1040 ste with a collection of keyboards and Akai samplers, to just about “working out of the box” as is the case with a lot of studios now.

Today, a lifetime of experience is being teased out of the connoisseur by lifelong friend and A&R curator Greg Wilson, beginning with the double header of 'Nobody' and 'Music Up': both reworks have caused dance floor rapture for Greg over recent months and, as festival season fast approaches, they are now being shared amongst the wider DJ community for the very first time (Derek and Greg have also recently joined forces to remix Bryan Ferry’s ‘Don’t Stop The Dance’).

'Music Up' is an overhaul of the 1979 Vanguard 12” by the Players Association, Kaye's version injecting further verve into the original with a new bassline, percussion, strings and arrangement. Personally requested by NYC stalwart Danny Krivit when Greg Wilson dropped it during his recent gig at The Date in London, 'Music Up' is a surefire festival favourite, for house and disco heads alike, that’s set to fly this summer.

Jon started his musical journey at the age of 14 after a holiday to Ibiza. Experiencing the electric atmosphere of the dance floors he knew exactly where he wanted to be! As soon as he got back to England he badgered his parents into buying him his first set of turntables, a pair of Gemmi Direct drives and a mixer! 

He quickly got to grips with the fundamentals of DJ techniques thanks to the tutelage and guidance from Ian Gordon a resident at one of his local night spots at the time. They became great friends and at one time toured together on Behalf of LIve Music Management.

It didn't take long before he upgraded his DJ setup and made room for his ever increasing vinyl collection of Trance, House and Dance Music!

Jon studied The Extended Music Technology Level 3 Diploma at the West Cheshire College in his home town of Ellesmere Port and was mentored by Martin Homes, John Beamish, Jim Freeman, Neil Borg and Thomas McMamahon.

Now continuing his academic studies at the SAE Institute in Byron Bay. 

Jon has had many influences through out his musical journey from his close friends Matt Whitfield, Steve Duddridge, Gary Bellis, John Heap and Lee Davenport.

He owes his career too his parents Christine and Colin who have always shown there support!!
