Down & Out (OHYEAH Remix) - The Baldives

Individually they were a classically trained pianist and bass player, a back up vocalist as well as above average athletes. Together they became ‘The Baldives’.

Armed with a swag full of samples, 4 computers, 5 keyboards and a fridge full of beer, two bros merged career paths 6 months ago with ambitions for the ‘greater good’ of the Sydney music scene.

‘Down & Out’, the first single from production duo ‘The Baldives’, is a ‘chop house’ style track in the same vein as modern marvels Phantoms Revenge and Xinobi. Based around a Donald Byrd sample, it’s uplifting, soulful and ready for the big room of your local disco-tech.

Included with the single are remixes from a collection of talented producers, Digital Human (Switzerland), OHYEAH (Germany) and The Gripp (Sydney). In their own style, all of these producers have brought something different to the original. Digital Human have beefed up the techno, OHYEAH has spun it into a ‘dolphin funk’ instant classic while The Gripp has given it the modern ‘Nu-disco’ treatment in a way that will make you croon. In there own right these producers are doing fantastic work, and the talent showcased on this release should heed future greatness from all involved.
