This one comes from the July shooting of Sammy Yatim  on a streetcar in Toronto. The way things went down is not entirely clear but video coverage makes one think the police office (Const. James Forsillo) fired too many shots - or more shots than necessary. 1,2, 3 and a pause of 10 seconds then 6 more shots. You hear the cops saying throughout: "Drop the knife, drop the knife". I couldn't get the happening out of my head.

A new Tele and one must test it out right? This song came from picking it up once I got home, pressing record and seeing what happened. Of course I went back and added the other bits to the thing. I love the sound of it - a Texas Highwayman. Used it on both left and right sides of the recording and for the lead stabs. Reminds me of Syd a bit on the lead. I ain't got too much chops there but still I dig the echo.

Ever had someone take some thing you did and turn it around on you? Well, it's happened to me and I wrote about it. Gives you pause when that happens eh? Or does it?

Turned It Around On Me

This one came about after hearing one too many stories around missing persons and kidnapped persons. Wanted to write something echoing such situations - an amalgamation of several incidents actually. I can only imagine how families feel having to deal with the situation and also having to deal with media. Do we really need to know so much detail except how we might help to find them? Some iconic WhooHoos here representing the masses swallowing it all up akin to Henley's "Dirty Laundry" I guess

I Could Paint A Picture

This one is a bit pop bluesy - some keys and heavy bass. Based on a forced "amalgamation" - never works out well you know being thrust together when you don't want to be. Features Jamie Manov from The Whiners on slide. I play all the rest and do the vocals.

We was born in the Province of Quebec - in Montreal, on a cold night in August. We've 'bin alive for many nights since then.
