To celebrate the marriage of Barry Manilow to his manager and long term partner, Garry Kief, I rewrote a classic Manilow track to suggest that they might have met back in the days when Barry played piano for Bette Midler at the gay bath house, The Continental.

I was especially pleased with myself when I wrote this one, because I was singing it live without lyric cues two days after Barry and Garry announced they would marry. I was also pleased at being able to drape a little bit of gay history on a song that is so intrinsically camp.

The Continental

A week before the UK referendum on whether we should leave the EU, I thought it would be worth expressing my distaste for the xenophobic name-calling of the Leave campaign in the form of a song.

The Immigrant's Song

Since it has wrecked so much havoc on the gay community and destroyed or damaged so many lives, I thought it might be worth turning my lyrical muse towards the subject of methamphetamine. This is what I came up with. It's the first time I've written a song from scratch, music and everything, so I had to create my own - admittedly amateurish - backing track. Gotta start somewhere.
