This one is an original, written and composed 4.5 years back for a live performance during my college graduation. It describes the journey of someone fighting the waves, hoping to reach the shore some day.

Safar

I got my acoustic guitar re-stringed with brand new strings. It started sounding completely different and totally awesome. So I spent an entire Sunday playing it, just enjoying the beautiful sound. Here's what it sounds like! I've done an acoustic cover of a popular song from Aashiqui 2. Kept it extremely simple and minimalistic with just vocals and guitar. Enjoy my rendition of Sun Raha Hai!

Sun Raha Hai (Acoustic Cover)

I was listening to this song while driving home one evening. The sun was down leaving behind a light glow in the sky, and the cool breeze had set a perfect mood to enhance the real flavor of this song. That's when I knew I had found my next cover.
Little did I know that what appeared to be a simple song at first would turn out to be one of the hardest songs I have covered - mainly due to extensive falsettos and ambient music. The music is subtle yet rich, extremely well complemented with beautiful vocals and falsettos by Caralisa Monterio. I don't think I create anything remotely close to the original song.

The recent Google Search Reunion advertisement has touched a lot of people's hearts. What appealed to me the most was the wonderful music score by Clinton Cerejo, backed up with powerful vocals by Piyush Mishra. I had to give this song a shot. Here's a cover of Ik Daur Tha.

Ik Daur Tha

Feels great to be back after a long break! This one is a beautiful song composed by Ankur Tewari. It has a nice feel to it - something that grows on you after a couple of listens. I've tried to retain the "easy listening" feel in my cover by using some jazz chords backed with subtle acoustic guitar leads. Listen to it a few times when you're in the mood and see the magic unfold. The sound of rain in the background would definitely enhance the effect of this song!

Sabse Peeche (Acoustic Cover)

Beautiful song composed by A R Rahman, this one was long overdue. I have been playing this at jam sessions for quite some time. No cover can do justice to the original, a masterpiece by Rahman. I have experimented with harmonics in this rendition. Quality is affected in some parts of the song due to compression.

Lukka Chuppi

Here is a cover of Friday by Goldspot. I've mixed the English and Hindi versions since both are awesome. This song sounds much better when performed live and unplugged. I have added chorus and strings to make it sound much fuller.

This one is an Anthem. One of the most popular jam session songs. One of the first Hindi Rock songs I picked up. The base track was created by a dear friend Siddharth Vishwanath around 6 years ago. He's done a fantastic job with the drums and bass to come up with the karaoke version. Back in college, we had recorded a cover version, and played this live on numerous occasions. I've tried to revive this by adding some effects, instruments and vocals. Due to low quality recording of original track, there are some noisy sections in this cover that I couldn't remove. I wish to hear this song in Sid's voice someday. This one's to the "good old days".

Experiments with Wobble Bass and Dub Step. Created using synth and sampled sounds. This song has 2 popular tunes mixed with heavy bass.

This one is Work In Progress. It's a mix of 2 versions of the same song. Time to learn some French!

Teaser

This one's a cover of Yellow by Coldplay. It's got a base track overlayed with rhythm guitar, keyboard, electric guitar lead, vocals and harmonies. Coldplay vocals can be really hard to cover, especially due to falsettos. Took me a while to get this one right - or at least a little close to the way I wanted it to sound. Good project to exercise sound mixing skills!

Yellow

Here's an experimental cover of a beautiful song sung by Papon. I was prototyping the cover sometime in early 2012, but never got a chance to record the whole song. The depth and bass in Papon's voice was hard to match. So I recorded the vocals when I was down with a bad cold - hoping to get a rough bassy finish. The final recording never happened. So here's the rough cut that I had created originally.
