A real contender for inclusion on the debut EP, it is almost certain that this track will have its day on a full band output and indeed, live, this song flourishes. Simply put, it is the textbook embodiment of a song being greater than the sum of its parts.

heart will haunt

Toeing the line between post-punk and anthemic 80’s rock - reminiscent of early U2, with a breezy yet thoughtful intro - this track lifts your mood instantly. Funny then, that the lyrics are full of desperation and the tale of a love turned sour. A wonderful juxtaposition that serves to portray perfectly the many sides to this band.

Nocturnal

A real departure from anything else this band has produced, Submarine is a beautiful ballad with indie sensibilities. Once again, Stuart’s vocals induce - entirely effortlessly - an emotion from the listener that is not usually easily prized. A real gem of a track that may (hopefully) one day receive the full recording works in the studio.

With an intro consisting of a pulsating quasi-dance bassline gradually enveloped by a teasing guitar line, it is a heady mix of rock’n’roll abandon, subtely counterpointed by considered, almost politically-charged lyrics. The driven keys during the chorus are a sound to behold. 

shadow boxer

This song is set apart by the intricacies of the drum fills throughout. The bass keeps up admirably, and the vocals are from the depths of the writers’ heart. The steady groove eventually gives way three-quarters of the way through, only to be replaced by a stratosperichally-placed guitar riff that lifts the piece above and beyond. Instantly recognisable and connective, what’s not to love?

X marks the spot

A kick drum (accompanied by a simple yet beautiful guitar melody) is all that are required to suck the listener in, and that’s before the wonderfully measured vocals are introduced. Throw in a tricksy-time signature for the uplifting heartfelt chorus, and you really get the sense that you are listening to a band on the top of their game.
