The Helsinki-based multidisciplinary artist Exmantera (Daniil Mantere, they/them) https://soundcloud.com/exmantera is one of the prominent names in the Finnish underground digital electronic scene, and they’re known for their abrasive, knife-sharp outings where crispy sound design meets clangy dramatic tension. After hosting a remix on last year’s “Ross 308 EP” by the also Finnish artist Comastasis https://paynomindtous.bandcamp.com/track/ross-308-exmantera-remix, we’re thrilled to share with you their latest work “LETHALITY” EP. As of today, you can pre-order the EP for 1€ or more on our Bandcamp, and stream the first excerpt called “DISTILL”.

“LETHALITY” is composed of seven tracks and comes with an eerie, obscure artwork by Exmantera and uzâ a’amo https://instagram.com/uzaaamo/. As evoked by its title, the record is unforgiving in its sonic violence, aggressive distortion, and clangorous instinctiveness. Episodes inspired by the finest instrumental grime are followed by ear-splitting bursts, metallic percussions, glitching artifacts, and sinister melodies. These raw ingredients are molded into eventful tracks that immediately capture the listener despite the unrestrained rhythmic violence, guiding them down a treacherous path of digital corrosivity. In other words, Exmantera encapsulates spectacular ferocity and immaculate bloodlust in each of the compositions, molding the elements in the ultimate sound transposition of the impulse to maw, gnaw, and kill. Communions - It's Like Air

On their brand new debut single «Sunshine Crawlers» Norwegian newcomers Haunted Mansions bring warmth and understated confidence to their hiphop-inspired indie weirdness. The Trondheim-based duo's  first offering is full of insistent pop hooks, and is a great introduction to their sound. 

Haunted Mansions namecheck Portugal The Man, Danger Mouse and Gorillaz when asked to describe their music and while those artists have inspired Haunted Mansions it's clear to all that they bring their own flavour to the music as well. 

The song combines old-school hiphop beats, almost shimmering acoustic guitars, textured synths and weird, smoky and infectious vocals to perfection. «Sunshine Crawlers» is seductive in all it’s gloom, mildly psychedelic and strongly melodic, but most of all just really great. 

It’s a song about social injustice, about realizing that the world is blindingly unfair and that there really isn’t that much hope to be found. Still, there are undertones of resistance, a subdued call to arms. The last chorus rises above the gloom and asks «Who’s laughing now» as it perhaps finds an ever so slight glimmer of light in the enveloping darkness of modern society.

Thomas: "We had been flirting with the idea of writing songs and starting a band together for a long time, and it just sort of happened one day. As Vegard was leaving my studio he heard the initial demo for Sunshine Crawlers with no vocals from the hallway, and went back with an old melody of his, that just fit the song. From there everything just fell into place and the song was incredibly easy to complete. It is the first song we wrote together."

Happy to announce that SWR-009 will be the debut 7’’ single by Modest.

Modest is Julius Lykke, Stinus Kruse, Jacob Tjerrild and Jacob Ahlers. The four boys hail from Aarhus, Denmark, and have been playing as Modest since they met three years ago. Keeping live appearances to a minimum, they have devoted most of their time to writing and perfecting their sound. The two songs on Pretty Sure It’s Honest show Modest at their best yet. Modest manages to capture a sound, which might remind some of a whole other decade, but their forward momentum is undeniable.
