We're proud to present Accidental Business, a long-term project strewn with pitfalls and disillusions nodding to the incongruous events that led to the birth of Unknown Precept. Looking back at what made our trademark for the past 8 years, this new compilation marks a turning point in our discography. Scanning out the dustiest corners of the label's bizarre roster to offer a complete look at Unknown Precept's soul and vision; it brings together 18 tracks of unreleased material and collaborations recorded by our closest friends. From slow-paced post-punk hitting hard as bricks to short-circuited noise that makes the power supply trip, not to mention our love for the grotesque and self-mockery via humorous wonky synthpunk and bad tempered body music cracking jokes at a ghost audience. This is what you get when a group of people that have no clue what they're doing get together. Into the unknown we sink, but where to find us next?

Up to kick off 2021 in the most adequately frenzied, thoroughly corrosive fashion, DDS04 serves up a quintet of chrome-tanned, hi-velocity beats courtesy of Italian hardware fetishist Anna Funk Damage (previously heard on the likes of Mind Records, Lux Rec, Lazy Tapes and more) and Austrian-Hungarian outfit Dutch Courage - alias Superskin & Új Bála - each of whom step up to the plate to deliver an exquisitely ear-wormy slice of their deranged industrial gospel.

A-side starts off to the sound of AFD’s hard bouncin' "48 Hours Death" - a raw-cooked deluge of head-reducing EBM grit, flaring binary signals and Giallo-infused arpeggios out a blood-stained Suspirian tale. Fear for the deadly scalp hunters lurking in the club’s darkest nooks, they’ve just sniffed out your trail.

Brutal churner “Youssef” picks up the torch and pulls out the quake-inducing breaks without further ado, dressed out with languorous Orientalistic melodies and steely distortions tailored to bend mind by the dozens. Forged in the furnace, the full-out punk-minded “I Come From Fire” rounds off the side on a drum and bass-heavy note, drawing as much from 60s psych-garage as it does from 80s deconstructionist tape music.

Flip sides and here’s Budapest unit Dutch Courage taking the reins with the off-kilter treat “Hand Of The Sword” - navigating a weird zone of its own, floating astride post-apocalyptic Bristol bass, sliced-and-diced abstraction and overly textured yet equally bone-bruising riddims.

Wrapping up the journey with both force and serenity, “Neo-Soulmates” follows a similar path with its warped synth flexions and raucous machine cries making the rounds from one end of the spectrum to the other effortlessly, merging to give birth to something genetically contrasting from any contemporary. A most fitting finale to an EP that celebrates and encourages sonic bizarro in all its forms and manifestations.

Working as a visual artist and writer, Puck Schot once felt the need to express a more masculine voice within her poetry. Curious towards electronic music, she started making experiments around 2019 with the Korg MS-20, poetry on violence and distorted drum samples as Acidic Male. In that same year she started collaborating with RJM Vanderheyden as 'Vot'ress' as well, combining harsh noise with nature sounds and Shakespearean texts. Since then, she has a high interest in industrial sounds, hypnotic drum patterns and experimental vocals. Having her performer name as a revenge title, she searches to “other” herself into the position of a manipulator, perpetrating the listener through the duality of softness and harshness within violent sounds and poetry. Yet, typically what is left is merely a penetration of herself as the subject, exposing her confessions, memories and hauntologies. She is simply ripping in two, in front of an audience.

about the release
Titled after her place of birth, Deceased in Rotterdam provides autobiographical catharsis and grievance towards Acidic Male's past selves. Including extracted sounds from early childhood VHS home-tapes, field recordings and pubescent yells of rage, the viewer is left with sounds depicting the artist’s remains of physicality. The songs are written in a state of isolated self-reflection and through mourning over the past of her growing female body, seeking calmness in ageing yet fearing her own decomposition.

This is Acidic Male's debut EP.

Kutkh Jackdaw releases a previously unavailable track from the archives, with proceeds going to humanitarian aid in Ukraine. 'Innocents' was produced in 2015, and is an intriguing combination of industrial and post-punk, with dubstep and bass music influences.

Kutkh Jackdaw is a Scottish producer and DJ, now based in Brighton, whose productions and mixes take influence from a wide variety of different genres, from post-punk and EBM, to synth, industrial and techno. He uses a range of techniques including a heavy use of inventive sampling, combined with extensive use of vintage 80’s hardware. His debut release, the 'Sweat & Thunder EP' was released on Dark Disco, and he has also had tracks released on Lunacy, Sonidos Subterraneos, and Of Dolls & Murder.

Spectral fog on “Tuxedo” opening the EP, increasing the voodoo environment with “Lebanon”. It falls to the slow-erosion beat “Ancient Prog” to shut the A side.  
An obscure timbre marks the B side: it’s the stabbed rough track “Torpedo”!
Ending with the very radical @kluentah’s imprint assaulting “Torpedo” — crafting a nasty remix which whips out the deranged flesh of the original track.
