The Black Lodge is a monthly intimate gathering and ritual organized around exploring, sharing, and experimenting with diverse forms of elektronic musik and other esoterik arts. 

In the first hour of today’s show, Kosmik delivers a lo-fi and obscure mix with the signature sound of his obscure dance vinyl selections. In the second part, Ayshel’s set follows with a deep and hypnotic mood full of grungy grooves.

Huge honor for us to welcome DJ Overdose @jayoverdose to our family. He's one of the pillars of the Dutch electro scene. He is a low-key yet vital artist who hails from The Hague but is based in Rotterdam. His unique take on electro oozes the atmospheres of these famous musical cities. Stay tuned because he will release a new EP soon on Italo Moderni. 4 hours of pure joy.

Ever since starting out in eighties, he has been looking to cook up a sense of fun, “where the subs are devastating and the beats are raw.” He underpins his work with booming Miami bass and tends not to look outwards across the contemporary landscape, instead he continues to draw on his love of 80s hip hop for inspiration, then skews it through his own lens.

Famously dexterous in the booth, DJ Overdose has well honed skills that make him able to tear up a larger stage or connect with a more intimate crowd. Electro, Dutch electronics, 80’s pop, Kraftwerk and of course Miami bass can all feature and his deserving reputation has taken him to gigs across the US and Canada as well as key events in Europe.

In the studio, Overdose is a master technician on a range of hardware. By now, he speaks his own language through these machines, whether working solo, or in previous collaborations with the likes of Alden Tyrell or Mr. Pauli. As well as under his own name, he works under alases like Dream Disco, HAEX-HRLL, Extranova and Model Man, but never puts out music for the sake of it.

Instead, he has a small but perfectly formed discography that includes mutant electro funk and ghetto disco albums, as well as EPs that touch on sci-fi tinged soundtracks and more dark and fatalistic adventures. They come on cult labels likes Viewlexx, Pinkman, L.I.E.S., Unknown to the Unknown, Creme Organization and his own RotterHague. It is a label that brings him together with artists from around the world for a series of EPs called ‘Where Cities Collide,’ where sonic similarities and stylistic differences are explored and embraced.

Mystery Friend's is a 23 years old Argentine DJ who lives in the west side of Buenos Aires. He is a music lover, owner of a personal collection that delves into the origins of House Music. His vision stands out for reliving the nostalgia of the club sound of the 80s, generating a climate of energy and constant movement on the dance floor, where sensuality, ghetto, fantasy and sweat go hand in hand. In his performance as a producer, he is part of the duo Romance Layers with which he has released several singles and two EP's. In this mix the mysterious friend gives us 1 hour of vinyl 100% of dirty, raw and rare Chicago rhythms, the genre with which he stands out. Kosmik follows suit with a live broadcast from BL HQ for the next hour of Chicago rarities pulled from deep within the BL vinyl vaults. Enjoy!!

Holiday wishes from Berlin!

For the last mix of the year we have one of our close friends and label's artist on board. Philipp Otterbach used a lot of guitar tracks in here, however he mentioned that “he hates it when people describe their mixes as a "Special guitar mix" or "vinyl only" or whatever”, it’s a logical followup on Philipp’s previous mixes. It contains favorite tracks from Philipp’s youth, stuff he found over the years and some new records he digged and ordered through the pandemic. A lot of 7inches in here, more than in any other of his mixes.

Galactic Funk kick-off their first Mutant Radio show on Christmas Eve with special guests Boris Barksdale (Phromix, Natural Sciences) and NVST (Big Science, Endless Illusion). Warmest welcome on Mutant board!
Boris Barksdale is an enigmatic Greek DJ and producer is based in Paris and commands a unique selection and production style. He dropped what to most is the album of the year on Phormix and follows this up with a full-length on Natural Sciences next month.
NVST, a DJ and producer that co-runs the French label Big Science where she dropped a sick EP early last year. With a busy touring schedule before the current lockdown, she also dropped music on Endless Illusion and the new launched Proxima Records.

Started mixing around 1980 after being influenced by the (Italo)disco scene in The Hague. Professional DJ career started in 1990 with squat and club parties in The Hague. Got an installment in LA D.S. club in The Hague in 1992 until 1996 to DJ weekly House, Garage & Disco on Sunday nights. Appeared inbetween on several local parties and clubs.

Ever since 1994 weekly guest DJ for regional pirate radio stations. (Trend FM, Radical Radio) Since 1999 till now active as DJ in the European clubcircuit (Panorama Bar Berlin, Barcelona, Den Haag, Amsterdam, Helsinki, Moscow, Dublin, Glasgow, London, Madrid, Geneva, Munich etc.) First record produced in 1994 as Silverstream for Top Secret records (TS-004)

Started The Parallax Corporation together with I-F in 1998 and produced the clubhit 'Lift Off (Viewlexx Viewlexx V12/5) followed up by the Cocadisco series (Viewlexx V12/10, V12/11, V12/12 & V12/16) The Cocadisco Album (2-LP/CD) later appeared on Disko B. Involved in The Parallax Corporation remix for Jolly Music's-Radio Jolly (Sony) Adult.'s-Hand to Phone (Clone), Ganymed's-Music Takes Me Higher (Sabotage) and Japanese Telecom remix on Detroit's Intuit Solar Records. Last vinyl production as The Conservatives (2003) together with I-F.
