The Blue & The Blond

The Blue & The Blond is where Finnish kantele meets Norwegian hardingfele, strings sounding with voices, tunes and songs approached with warmth and an urge of just to sound. Or in other words a folk music duo with a Nordic horizontal polarity.  

The duo consists of Jutta Rahmel – kantele & vocal, from Finland, and Vidar Skrede – hardingfele, fiddle, guitar & vocal, from Norway. Both are musicians known from the Nordic folk music scene, each performing on their respective countries’ national instruments. In their musical meeting they find a common ground for both their instruments, with background in their Nordic traditions, and the drive of their own musical expressions, creating their own sound. They present tune types you find in Nordic traditions, such as polska, halling, schottische and waltz, songs like Finnish rekilaulu and Norwegian ballads, and pieces found from their own imaginations.
