I'm storing a bunch of music here from a musical I wrote a couple of years back, (MANIC PIXIE DREAM BAND), as a way of archiving it and putting it out into the universe. I've moved on from it (and am pretty busy with other things) but am keeping the door open to one day develop it into something bigger, even if that's a one-night only affair. From 2020-2022, I wrote all 20-something songs, multiple drafts of the script, and workshopped it with two groups. These songs are all rough demos, but I do find them quite enjoyable to listen to, and hope you do too.

Originally, the show didn't have an "actual" opening number -- only after revisions did we realise we needed to properly establish the setting, so I wrote a song that WASN'T this one. It was called "Extraordinary" and that was the opening number for quite a while.

"Is Anybody Else Feeling Nervous" was the alternate opening number, and I preferred it -- though I could go between the two depending on the day. Anyway, here you have it: the opening number of Manic Pixie Dream Band. I'll post "Extraordinary" too, in a hot minute.

Don't mind the empty talking break in the middle of the song! This demo was a little more polished than my other demos, and I had them in. None of the other songs will have long sections of absolutely nothing.

Introducing THE PRODIGY DEMOS, an 8-track mini-musical about musicians and the quest for perfection. This was a practice piece for me, one that I hope to fully flesh out in the future.
