Broken & Breaks Techno

Naples-based up-and-comer Mystics is making impressive explorations in the underground scene. His fourth output will land on 47 and marks the apex of his heads down, rolling approach to techno and a development of his left-field futuristic sound.

The extended six-track EP sets the scene with “The Unexplored Pt. 1,” a strung out opener that spits out irradiant shards of glitch and gated vocals. The rest of the EP builds a cohesive canvas from this sonic palette. In “The Unexplored Pt. 2,” washes of static and breakbeats barrel under a drone-like pad, while “Oxford RM” steamrolls ahead with four-to-the-floor kick drums, barbed wire textures and an orbiting melody. On the B-side, the artist leans into his penchant for IDM with “But If” and “Shrouded In Mystery” with their wormhole, Warp-like ambience.Never leaning too far into the past, these songs form a collection of visionary rhythmic techno, conjuring a vision of a world that is as movingly melancholic as it is haunting and spare.

Following their last "Thirst Ep" released on Instrument of Discipline in 2019, the duo Diasiva (Monolog and Swarm Intelligence) returns with a five tracks work on the Berlin Imprint Arboretum.

While addressing the environmental issue of the human impact on natural ecosystems, Microplastic Ep seems to embark upon a journey of deconstruction of Techno, IDM and Bass Music towards futuristic paradigms.

Here, gritty broken-beats, wisely mixed with titanic basslines, an ominous dystopic temper seems to simulate the contemporary unrelenting strain, fading at time either into kaleidoscopic-visionary synthlines archetypes or cinematic rarefied epilogues for a comforting utopia.

The 29th e s p e r p e n t o is split in two sections for a special extended episode after a refreshing Summer Break: the first hour is delivered by the italian duo Marmo, with a live set shaped and recorded half in London and half in Bologna (Italy), while on the second hour, a stark and raw mix dropped by the Berlin-based italian duo Sons Of Traders will close this sonic exploration. 
Khemia, Ways to Die Records and Metempsychosis Records are some of the labels where Christian Duka & Marco Maldarella have persued their persistent research in electronic music which doesn’t acknowledge any creative limits but marks this live set full of EBM echoes and mesmerizing variations. Every barrier is torn down on the second part: raw and acid sounds, techno, experimental music and hip-hop influences are combined in a dynamic sequence by the Sons of Traders, a music project and label born in Berlin thanks to the harmony between two cousins from Bari. TANS and Mike Tansella Jr. have released music on Up North Records, Acero, Vastechoses, The Black Lodge and Clan Destine Records, and they are also curators of “Sons Of Traders Takeover” on Mutant Radio Tbilisi.
