Unrelenting but utterly charismatic across four tracks, Ace blends her lived experience intertwined with today’s increasingly complex politics of club culture with a thirst for experimentation, unpicking and subverting the strains of toxic masculinity that still run deep through contemporary culture. This is first-rate dancefloor discourse with little room for chin-stroking.

‘Hyper Hyper Dancy Hardcore’ submits to the ridiculous promise of its title with a breathless finale that showcases Ace’s ability to deliver function and pure fun. Leaving a strong final impression this Rotterdam-rooted hardcore anthem provides all the thrills but thoughtfully dispenses with the macho bullshit, its central vocal constantly shifting in pitch and context.

UFO95 is a French electronic music producer.

In search of unknown sounds, UF095 travels through different worlds and different eras. He finds his inspiration in the psychedelic rock from the 60s and 70s, and in the techno scene from the 90s or even the IDM scene, such as Aphex Twin... He also draws from the jungle and experimental scenes to propel a hypnotic, alienating and decidedly unique sound.

Very early on, music was his calling. Mainly because he lived with his family above his parents’s nightclub. He learned to play several instruments; he will also tryout rock bands in high school. As he turned 18, he chose to move towards music through sound engineering. First contact: he was then abducted by electronic music and, self-taught, he launched other artistic projects. He started playing under others aliases, and first live performed with RGS Collective.

Recently, he landed in The Reunion Island in order to set up a family start-up, which works to reclaim environmental waste. Recently back in France, he confined himself out into the country side during the spring of 2020 and fired up UF095, an Unidentified Fabulous Object of music. He also released his first LP «Po- pularity is overrated» on Mama Told Ya label, in a cosmic collaboration with Anetha.

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Marcus L. The Seoul-based artist and resident of the city’s Faust club lands on SPFDJ’s Intrepid Skin imprint with Kimchi Slap, a wild four track EP that hits hard enough to be felt across the globe. After meeting each other in Seoul in 2018 the two went on to share bills in different continents and now Marcus is the latest addition to an already stellar lineup of releases on Intrepid Skin. Today we premiere the title track which is an outrageous dance floor destroyer about my favorite fermented cabbage dish which features vocals from rapper Kill.gone. The release contains two other originals plus a massive remix from Hadone.

SPFDJ’s Intrepid Skin imprint returns for an outlandish and typically heavy-hitting fourth release, fresh from the somewhat outrageous underground of the current South Korean electronic music scene. Marcus L is resident at Faust in Seoul, and first met SPFDJ when she played the city in 2018. In the time since, the two have shared bills in both London and Mumbai, where Marcus’s distinct taste and technical dexterity became more than obvious to the Intrepid Skin founder, who dares to exclusively reveal that Marcus is “a really fun guy.”

This sense of playfulness is immediately apparent throughout ‘Kimchi Slap’, which takes inspiration from the beloved and fermented cabbage, reinterpreting this staple of Korean food culture as pure techno of the saltiest kind. So indebted to kimchi is Marcus’s vision, he even sourced a microscope in order to photograph it in scintillating close-up on the cover.

Those inspired by previous Intrepid Skin transmissions from the scene-defining trilogy of Nene H, Schacke and VTSS will find much more to love in this blistering introduction to Marcus L. Reflecting his sets, Kimchi Slap smashes ML’s love of industrial, trance and nineties techno classics into formidable rave paste.

Already a local rap legend and ‘irreplaceable character’ Kill.gone provides culinary verse and unfuckwithable attitude to the elasticated techno landscape of the title track. On ‘P For Phycho’, Marcus redeems his blatant disregard for correct spelling with a masterful slice of burst drums and quivering acid, beckoning all ravers down a rabbit hole of warehouse-friendly lunacy.

‘Hardcore Reality’ is just as instantaneous, a tunneling carnival ride of miltant bass and ecstatic atmosphere, while Parisian DJ and producer Hadone’s remix of the intimidating ‘Kimchi Slap’ transforms Marcus’s original dish into a dense, tense and surprisingly groovy kiss-off, positioning Kilgon as a trance-like God, ascending to head of the table on a twin wave of ecstasy and melancholy.
