Since its emergence the project the has been often labelled as „pitch black techno war funk“ (quoted after an early Boomkat review) and closely associated to what later on would be tagged as the „industrial techno“ – movement. This is possibly due to the radical machine aesthetics Ancient Methods has developed into an unmistakable trademark sound, since more than a decade. However the mechanical framework is – no more, no less – a physical ambassador for a deeper content, there is a profound human emotionality enclosed in the rhythmic shell.

Maedon’s sound is dark, heavy and exciting, a unique hybrid of industrial techno and EBM with a touch of rave. She is driven by a fierce, relentless passion for the music.
A wizard in the studio, Maedon is known for her all-gear live sets, which are must-see events where dance floors become mesmerized by the collage of irresistible electronics and pounding grooves. Her background was in the industrial scene, and these influences are absorbed into her sound.

Since her arrival in Europe, she has settled in smoothly, with a flurry of releases that include a track for the Belgium label Deviate, and also some remix work, appearing on Berlin labels Aufnahme + Wiedergabe, Dream Baby Dream and the Brooklyn boutique label Synthicide. 

Her new dark and futuristic album is now out on Sonic Groove (@sonic-groove-records): Maedon crafts some very melodic jams, with refreshing song structure and storytelling trips achieved through excellent sample work and programming prowress. Make no mistake, this is fghting music. It's blazing hard, with grueling energy, and a fair for the dramatic. Maedon likes relevant content, as tracks like “Rave-Act Never Forget” expose pathetic pledges from poser politicians who have dared to protest against the dance music scene in their past. You have been exposed Biden. The madness continues with the menacing “Destroyer of Worlds”, a massive rave jam with otherworldly synths based around the words of a certain man’s famously guilty post-atomic quote from the Hindu scripture known as the Bhagavad Gita. It's a reminder of your sins, Oppenheimer.
The selection continues to concoct clever experiments with pressure and feels at times like riding a roller coaster thru outer space “Destroy the Status Quo” with subtly pitch-shifting metallic highs and ravey tone-work captivates the mind as gravity drops jerk the body into uncontrollable motion. “Rudersdorf Trip” is a sick adventure into the darkness, with whispered vocals ‘this is what you want this what you need’ leading the charge of hypnotic, spiraling acid. “Childhood dreams” is an excellent ending to the LP, an innovative melodic charmer with nostalgic future vibes pumped up by a broken techno beat.
In truth, all the tracks stand out; a solid efort from start to fnish. It serves as a lesson in production for her peers. She enjoys the process, creating a chance for all to dance away their pain. For Maedon, our ears are like trophies to collect. no one is safe.

NX1 is a duo consisting of Surit and Samot - artists both based out of Barcelona. 

Formed at the end of 2011, they have devoted themselves to a trademark sonic imprint that moves between heavy memories of classic techno and more mental/psychedelic spaces in contemporary sound design. Known globally throughout the club circuit, their live and DJ sets meld together disparate styles into a rhythmic and raw, yet emotional, performance.

Futuristic aspects propel them forward, whilst also expressing modern challenges.

The Brvtalist is proud to present a new mix from Unhuman & Surit. The collaboration between the artists began in 2018 with a great 12" release on Black Sun Records. Unhuman, best known for his output on Bite, Instruments of Discipline, Liber Null, Veleno Viola and more has carved a unique sound oscillating between power electronics, techno, EBM, noise and beyond. Well known for being half of punishing techno project NX1, Surit has released solo material on Body Theory, Nicz and his own Nexe Records imprint. ANFS is an electronic music producer and DJ based in Athens. Involved in various projects since an early age, he discovered an interest in electronic music, weird electronics and obscure sounds while studying sound design. In 2012, alongside fellow friends @kondaktor and 3.14 (@alxp), he co-founded the record label @modal-analysis, and later on 2015 he launched his own personal imprint, @vanilarecords and recently released @agiavarvaraoriginals, a label focused more on noise and experimental sounds. All platforms work as a self-referential point as well as an archive that documents the current electronic scene of Greece.
