Straight from the ghetto in the mountain region at the north of México, Monterrey, Nuevo León, Regal86 (@bregal86) is a producer and DJ who’s sound mixes chicano rap, the dark side del rap sureño and the thickest rhythms from rave and club culture.
Regal86 has published more than 40 albums and more than 400 tracks online, in only a couple years, strongly defining his style.

Welcome back to another edition broadcasting from the HER 他 Transmission Mix Series, our mix series showcasing amazing artists from around the world. For the 200th edition, just before HER 他 marks its fifth anniversary, joining the celebration is Berlin-based lesbian icon DJ AYA https://soundcloud.com/djayaya, co-head of (lip) service.

Zurich-born and Berlin-based, DJ AYA has a talent for amplifying the vitality, sexiness, and energy of any dancefloor. Their intention is always “to bring the queers to dance,” drawing inspiration from Berlin’s local scene while exploring underground communities in cities like Istanbul and Tokyo.

AYA’s love of UK bass, developed during a seven-year stint in London, sparked their passion for electronic music. This bass-driven groove and playfulness have shaped AYA’s approach to mixing, which blends clean, immersive techno kicks with diasporic influences such as grime vocals and reggaeton beats.

In just a few years, AYA’s career has soared, with a packed schedule of weekly gigs at standout venues like Khidi in Tbilisi, Boiler Room sets in Lisbon and Berlin, and Live From Earth’s Panorama Bar showcase.

Since 2020, HER 他 has released a new mix on SoundCloud every week and offers an open-call submission opportunity to all. HER 他 is a weekly mixtape and event series, as well as a platform that focuses on supporting women and minorities. Represented by the Chinese character "他" (Ta), which symbolizes a genderless identity.

For its milestone 200th edition, HER 他 is excited to feature DJ AYA as the special guest.

Five days, five mixes. RA.999 launches with two of the 2020's most exciting techno producers tearing a portal to the future.

When it comes to purveyors of contemporary hardgroove, it's hard to top 1morning and Regal86. The duo have emerged from a buzzy, and decidedly funk-oriented techno scene on the American West Coast, repping Los Angeles and Monterrey respectively. Bound by a shared love of old-school flair and intuition behind the decks, you'll often find Regal86 ditching headphones altogether in favour of studying waveforms in real time, while 1morning's vinyl-only sets are steered by the movements of the dance floor and the fire in his heart.

So it comes as no surprise that we had to invite them back in session. In the last week before we celebrate the 1000th RA Podcast, we'll drop five back-to-backs over the course of the week. From the NYC Downlow to Berlin's Bar25, what unifies this cohort is a sense that they capture where dance music has been—and crucially, where it's going.

Kicking off the week, we have this exclusive recording from the duo's co-headline show at New York's Bossa Nova Civic Club—the "extra special" final stop of their recent US tour. As the first instalment of RA.999, this one-hour set makes a strong case for what it means to achieve ultimate freedom in the booth.

Regal86 and 1morning might be known for their raw, swung techno explorations, but here, their more sensual leanings carry the most impact. You'll find hardgroove's very own daddy Ben Sims, Paul Mac's 2002 melodic beauty Struggling Event and the lavish stomp of Percy X's As Is. And, of course, it wouldn't be a Regal86 and 1morning linkup without a healthy dose of Mexico City rising star—and the former's frequent sparring partner—1OO1O.

But really, this mix proves just how perceptive the two are. It opens a portal into the beating heart of groove-first techno, masterfully flowing between impulse and restraint, tradition and modernity. And who are we to resist?

Danny Wabbit returns to the forefront with Manic, a carefully crafted five track EP that serves as a visceral journey through the psychological spectrum of the dancefloor.

The EP opens with the unexpected: 'Fear Is Nothing But A Tool', a cinematic dubstep intro to set a dark, preparatory tone. It then ignites with the title track 'Manic', a hypnotic and powerful techno cut built to induce peak-time frenzy.

Stripping techno back to its raw essence, 'Severed' delivers a minimalist homage to the genre's warehouse roots. This raw intensity then gives way to the meditative groove of 'Breath Work', a track centered on calming, pulsating rhythms. The EP closes with the soulful and uplifting vibes of 'That One House Track', the perfect euphoric finale to a long night.
