Returning for his second release on White Owl is Carlos Aguilar aka Concrete Husband, an exciting artist who has a high pedigree from the world of classical music and has now found his home in techno. Not only a producer, he is also an in demand DJ, playing regularly around NYC hotspots, and has also toured Europe this year.

'Piel' is an album journey that expresses the artist's dual sides; the themes of his ambient works and his techno prove strangely similar. In this long-form project, Concrete Husband presents his two styles next to each other. A searing flute opening delves into a torrent of techno madness, topped with two stellar remixes from techno icons TWR72 and 1morning. In all, Concrete Husband takes us from introverted depths to extroverted heights by deftly defying genre. Today we premiere track 6 from the techno part of the release.

Inspired by time spent as a resident bathhouse DJ at Steamworks Baths in Toronto - as well as his involvement with queer communities at large - Pleasure Dome appeals to a dark, sensual nature, exploring the dynamics of modern sex culture with an almost voyeuristic viewpoint. Drawing upon notions of love that can be emotionally distant but deeply sexual, Callum’s productions here lean into both subtle sonic detailings and maximal effects that speak to all kinds of sensorial response. Guiding the EP are Callum’s own vocals, delivered in a seductive yet detached manner, as if the narrator is both part of and outside the experience.

Opening the proceedings, the title track gently expands from a distant acid loop, driven forward by a tripped out robotic voice over pummelling hammer bass. ‘Seductor’ heightens the tension with a faster, bouncing cut of echoing bells and buoyant percussion. Heading into a more explosive realm, ‘Welcome To Nu Rave’ features euphoric builds that rise and fall over pounding drums. ‘Come to Play’ keeps the peaktime energy rolling with industrial leads and playful lasers. Closing things off is ‘Dangerous Obsession’, a headspin of distorted percussive effects and pitch bendi

Pleasure Dome reflects on underrepresented aspects of queer culture, documenting the experience of a bathhouse in all of its allures and contradictions.

Schwefelgelb return with a brand new EP titled “Trigger”. 2 original tracks pounding energy-loaded drums over catchy basslines at 138 bpm. Cleverly designed details in arrangement and sound design make this production appear like a fresh approach on the raw side of Techno. The next step in Schwefelgelb’s musical evolution is a highly effective sound which combines hard stomping Techno with a tonal playfulness. Hence it seems only logical to complete this release with 2 remixes which extend the versatility further. A remix by UFO95 adds a dubby flavor whilst still being 4-on-the-floor Techno, whereas a remix by French artist Flore completely pulls it to UK Bass territory. “Trigger” will be released 29th of November on n-PLEX, 140 g colored vinyl including download code.
