La música es un medio que tenemos para expresar nuestros sentimientos, unas veces son felices y otras son tristes, como hoy.

Rhythm & Breaks está de luto por el fallecimiento de uno de los grandes. Hablamos nada menos que de Rick West, un productor y deejay americano que forma parte del movimiento Florida Breaks.

Rick publicó una gran cantidad de referencias y recopilatorios con los cuales los componentes de nuestro grupo crecimos y disfrutamos a lo largo de tantos años.

Hoy vamos a devolverle ese favor que nos hizo grabando este set que hoy publicamos en su honor. Su autor es Thec4, el cual tenía preparada esta selección musical con temas pertenecientes al conocido sello del señor West, Painted Puppy Productions.

En esta ocasión, encontrareis la sesión sin ningún tipo de publicidad al tratarse de un homenaje.

The Prodigy’s influence is all over the lead track “Something Human” with some serious growl, rave stabs, and Yola’s powerhouse vocal over classic breaks with some added kick and punch.  There’s no denying that this deserves to be heard on a big system, festival style, and has that sweet mix of hands in the air moments with hardcore attitude.

On remix duties - step up Colombo!  As a contrast to the massive sound of the original, Colombo strips everything back to old school electro beats and nu-skool warped bass swells, whilst keeping echoes of the vocal and adding some lovely ear candy sound design. Spektra's History Vol.8 - 11th Anniversary (Mixed bj DJ Fen)

Joseph Anthony Sousa Jr., born in Brooklyn, NY on July 27, 1968 
formerly known as DJ Dr. Souss aka SOUSS.  
He was influenced by New York's Hip Hop and Breakdance scene in his younger years and at the age of 15 moved down South to Louisiana.  Souss mastered his skills as a night club DJ and became one of the legendary DJ's in New Orleans by the time he was 21 years old. Mixing and Scratching at the hottest nightclubs and holding residency at House Of Blues, Aqua, 360 WTC and Kenny Key West.  In 2002 DJ Dr. Souss had the pleasure of performing at a nightclub event which  hosted the New Orleans Mayor and The New Orleans Hornets basketball team.  His popularity for the past 30 years has allowed him to travel all across the United States headlining and opening up for the Music Industry's top artists like: Tiesto, Egyptian Lover, Stevie B, Crystal Waters & Quest Love just to name a few. Since the 2019 Pandemic that caused the World to stop, Souss didn't miss a BEAT turning his passion and focus towards writing and producing his own music.  His music has been streaming all ver the world on major platforms like: Spotify, Apple Music & iTunes.  In 2020 he released his first track titled “The Serum”, followed by “Horn Play behind the Second Line”.  In 2021 he released “More Happy Days Ahead” and “Hypnotica Utopia”.  Currently working on another track to be released before the end of 2021.  This new path has allowed Souss to compose many styles within different genres bringing his EDM “Soussafied” style to Hip Hop, Breaks, House and World music.  Souss' accomplishments has opened so many opportunities within the Music Industry, his passion and love of music has fueled him to pursue his dreams of producing and writing for opportunities within TV, Movie and Commercial industries.
