The Carvels NYC Live at the Cutting Room” was recorded in May 2020 during the dark days of NYC's Covid lockdown. The band's original plan was to record the album in front of a live audience at legendary venue The Cutting Room. "Plan B" went into action with producer Freddie Katz and engineer Gerard Hoffman, and the band (Lynne Von Pang, RB Korbet, Brian Morgan and Steve Pang) recorded live onstage in a locked club with no audience (and minus saxophonist Trevor Galvin, who recorded his tracks remotely from Oklahoma). The album was mixed/mastered by Jim Diamond (White Stripes, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion) and the album was originally released for digital download in September 2020 on Die Laughing Records. A video for "Stay the Fuck Home" followed shortly thereafter. After a very negative experience with digital distribution, we removed our music from digital distribution so we could give it away free.
