DAY 27. God's Replay feat. BlakeX

I ran to grab the microphone. BlakeX and I were deep in our conversation about music. Hot morning beverages were still hot, our energy was still settling into the studio after busy mornings finding our way into this creative cocoon. I realized that we were starting to talk about some really interesting topics regarding songwriting techniques and the themes of what we were excited to sing about. This is a recording of the conversation we had before we picked up any instruments to write the song of the day. This conversation completely shaped the song from scratch. This is the real life moment that birthed this vision that became our song "God's Replay". This song is capturing the essence of the four seasons and it takes you on a two year journey -- through the seasons twice. Creating something quickly and simply totally counts as creation. God made the day and night and then mic dropped and put it on replay forever and ever. Good enough for god, good enough for us. LOL

LIVE Songwriting Session: Creating the Vision for "God's Replay" (DAY 27)

Preparation makes all the difference. Through conversation we checked in and connected on a heart level that helped us identify where we aligned and what we wanted to create together. We went through the Lakota Medicine Wheel. Don't start taking action until you've gone through the process of envisioning, relating to the vision and getting clarity on the process. In collaboration, the preparation is connection. What has heart & what wants to be created right now? 
I need to prepare more food ahead of time to make sure my mental energy is high. Do not check my phone during songwriting sessions. I received messages that distracted me and triggered me. How do you connect with a new idea when you're alone and not in a collaboration? What have you learned in the songwriting process that you can take out into the world?

DAY 30. Love Is a Part of Me

30 songs in 30 days. We made it to this first milestone. Day 30 was completed at the Mt. Baker ski resort in WA. On the car ride down the mountain (exhausted) we recorded a casual interview type conversation to reflect on the experience we've just gone through. What are we most proud of? What have we learned? Do we want to keep going beyond 30 days to write more songs? Are we going to release albums?
