I know this ghost behind my back
I feel it’s breath, it whispers 
I know what they think

It only knows of what I lack
It won’t atone it just attacks
I feel it’s voice, it lingers 
My name is useless

When I’m running away
But you’re still in my wake
I’ll be running in circles for you
And I know that my failure is all you want to see

And so it grows around me now
And sews it’s seeds of doubt
I met with death’s sweet sister
Her name is hopeless

When I’m running away

It feeds the ghost inside to say 
All that you are, you should feel shame

Whatever happened to Eddie
Eddie used to be on the telly
But he couldn't stay
He's off to save the day

He walks the beat and he solves crime
He never has a fag before lunchtime
And he's never late
He's pc ten-four-eight

He bought a cape and learned to float
He said goodbye to the sun, said hello to the rain
And he doesn't know it now but he'll never be the same again
