About the CD:
I had to share another mix from Roger Sanchez to pay some respect to another dj who, at his best was 'the best dj in the world' in my eyes. As mentioned in the other cd's write up, his US and more importantly... New York city sound was so unquestionably addictive, unrivalled in its head bobbing ability and everyone on the floor vibes. I always remember one moment in the gents at Middlesborough's Sugar Shack when a seemingly innocent clubber said 'Who the hell is this DJ?!' to which someone replied 'Roger Sanchez'. This second CD shows this clubbing power and is arguably his best mix on a disc, but I'm happy for someone to recommend others. Sadly his selections have lost the NYC flavour of yesteryear but the main still needs representing in 'The Classic Mix CD Series'. S-Man... we salute you.

A very special 40th episode showcases arguably one of the best triple packs every released, especially considering it was relatively early in the timeline of mix cd history (1996). It features selections from Derrick Carter, Andrew Weatherall and Back to Basic's resident, Ralph Lawson.

We originally featured this CD in the early days of The Classic Mix CD Series, when it was recommended by Shindig's Scott Bradford as his most influential piece in his collection.

So it's fitting, that after more shouts out to use it from everyone on Facebook, that we feature all 3 discs for the 400th episode celebration. Thanks to everyone for getting involved all of the plays and positive messages.

About the CD:
001 of the Classic Mix CD collection. This mix immediately sprung to mind and an major contender for all time favourite mix CD. (It's seems like a few of you guys think the same). A hands in the air, feel good garage (and house) banger with many many memories attached. I think I bought this in 1997, two years after leaving school, going to college, working at McDonalds's and clubbing up and down the country once a month alongside weekly/daily night outs in Sunderland. The Essential Mix is a weekly radio show on BBC Radio 1 currently broadcast between 0:00 - 2:00 AM UK time on Saturday morning. Originally broadcast on 30 October 1993, the Essential Mix features contemporary DJ's and music producers of electronic dance music. The show has been presented since its inception by Pete Tong and features an uninterrupted two-hour mix from a different artist each week, overlaid with occasional continuity announcements delivered by Tong. With a broadcast run in excess of 25 years, the Essential Mix is one of the longest-running programmes in the current BBC Radio 1 schedule, and is one of very few Radio 1 shows which is not broadcast live.

Hey, Gareth here, I'm a graphic designer who start designing for clubs, parties, and labels in the late 90s. Back then, mix CDs were the holy grail of both design and music. I loved them.

But I wasn't the only one, mix cds were the soundtracks of our nights, our days, our afterparties and lives, for everyone. Yet in today's internet age, the art form has been lost (or just changed) to 2-3 hour online mixes and streaming videos, which just don't create the same magic your CD collection did. Just 60 minutes of music and incredible artwork.

The Classic Mix CD Series celebrates these discs, their soundtrack, their box art and your memories. We hope you enjoy it.
