Great to finally get some music in from Rick Prior, a fellow north east England lad, hailing from the mighty Darlington. Rick and I share a lot of the same friends and many of the same musical influences. This mix reflects that, maximum house music, disco and feel good vibes that manages to feel completely fresh, but laced with a classic sounds accessible to everyone. Creating a sound defines the dance floor in Barbary, one which everyone can enjoy regardless if you're a die hard or just there to have a good time.

Here's a few words from Rick:
"This mix is a great interpretation of how we do thing at Barbary (Dubai) every weekend. I’ve been a resident there for 2 years and shared the controls with the likes of Dimitri from Paris and DJ Spinna, to the amazing residents we have which any club in the world would be proud of. We do things a little differently than the ‘usual’ Dubai Party and I can safely say that supplying the music there has been one of my favourite gigs to date. A Radio Show hosted each time by a different artist, which gives the host an opportunity to play the different shades of electronic music, as opposed to the usual DJ set.

Each guest guides us through their personal record collection, from old influences, favourites, or simply the stuff they are digging at the moment.

This episode is a tribute to the black artists hailing mainly from Chicago and Detroit. Who have been a massive influence on the global dance music scene since the very beginning. #BlackLivesMatter

Fred Everything aka Frédéric Blais was brought up in Quebec City. 

In the early 90s, he started playing live in raves and clubs in Canada. He was then known as "Everything", because his live sets could range anywhere from techno to house, ambient and even drum and bass. 

Fred Everything's career as a DJ began in 1993, when he opened for Sasha at the Metropolis club night in Montreal. After building up a reputation in the US and Canada, he moved to Montreal in 1996, where he released many records under various record labels, including 20:20 Vision, with whom he went on to release a total of 20 records including his widely successful album "Under the Sun" in 2000.

Hey, Gareth here, I'm a graphic designer who start designing for clubs, parties, and labels in the late 90s. Back then, mix CDs were the holy grail of both design and music. I loved them.

But I wasn't the only one, mix cds were the soundtracks of our nights, our days, our afterparties and lives, for everyone. Yet in today's internet age, the art form has been lost (or just changed) to 2-3 hour online mixes and streaming videos, which just don't create the same magic your CD collection did. Just 60 minutes of music and incredible artwork.

The Classic Mix CD Series celebrates these discs, their soundtrack, their box art and your memories. We hope you enjoy it.
