The Coast's debut EP gives a taste of their sound,energy and intention. The title "All This Time" is not only a reference to the second track on the EP but also to the time and effort they've spent thus far. After all this time they have something to show for it.

We wanted to release a song that reflected where we are as a band, and to exhibit the growth we have experienced over the past two years. This song is a great representation of our sound and style at this point. It's fun, it's clever, and it was a creative development for all of us in terms of instrumentation as well as songwriting.”

Nikita is a fun, tongue-in-cheek song written in the summer of 2015 about a dear friend of the band. The song develop around a melody written by guitarist James Garish, and was inspired by the recent marriage of the band’s dear friend Nikita. 

The song was developed throughout the process of recording the demo at Platinum Studios, as well as through testing driving it live on stage. After seeing the reactions of people listening to the song band knew that they had found their new single and decided to record it professionally. After some research, they chose to record Nikita at Digital Forest Studios with Andrew and Jeremy Rawbone-Viljoen. The days of recording were fun, relaxed and comfortable, which is reflected in the feel of the song. This process and the experience of recording the single can be seen in the recently released Mockumentary, filmed and edited by Nikita Bandli. Mastered by Rogan Kelsey of Kelsey Mastering, and artwork and graphic design by Nikita Bandli, Nikita is set to release on the 26th of August 2015.

Our first song ever written 'Move On'. A moody track that takes us back to 2013, when we first got together and started jamming as The Coast. Reminiscent of the varsity days and the first few live shows together.

The Coast - Move On _ Live at Kill City Blues

We are The Coast from Blouberg, Cape Town. We are an indie rock band that formed in 2013.
 
The Coast formed as a result of an alcohol induced New Year’s festival conversation. After the first jam in early January we all knew we had to make something happen. With every member having a strong passion for music and a diverse musical background comes a unique sound.
The band consists of:
Rowan Nelsen on lead vocals and rhythm guitar
Joshua Coetzee on bass and backing vocals
James Garisch on lead guitar 
Matthew Eekers on drums 
 
"The Coast formed with the intention of just playing some music together and potentially writing some of their own material but they don't think they believed they'd end up where they are today. With a lot of hard work and perseverance they are very stoked with how things are going. From playing their first festival in 2013 at Synergy Live to playing an amazing show at Rocking The Daisies this year and to releasing their first EP entitled "All This Time", they continue to grow in the South African music scene."
