In 2001, Regensburg-based Markus Guentner and Affin’s Joachim Spieth first crossed  paths through their contributions to Kompakt’s Pop Ambient series. Their creative  synergy resurfaces with ‘Overlay,' a six-track album that amalgamates decades of their  distinctive styles - a harmonious blend of Guentner's ethereal, atmospheric textures  and Spieth's pulsating rhythms.  

“We envisioned a process akin to masking and unveiling, revealing certain elements  while fading others, mirroring the essence of the album titles themselves. This  reflects how we approached the audio material, a philosophy extended to our album.  This collaboration thrived on a foundation of trust, cultivated organically, much like  our previous joint endeavors. Musically, we entrust each other almost instinctively”.
  
With meticulously crafted tracks showcasing their artistry in creating evocative sonic  landscapes, this release marks the inaugural entry in a series of collaborative works  by the duo. 

"With this album, the flow of things knows no distinct start or finish—rather, it's a  continuous stream of material in motion." 

'Overlay' will be released digitally and on a limited edition CD on November 3 via  Spieth's Affin Records.

Although techno currently dominates the dance music landscape, he has consistently advocated for cutting-edge music, whether in the
realm of Techno or Electronica.

An innovative DJ and visionary promoter, Adam introduced avant-garde techno and electronic music to the Middle East shortly before the turn of the millennium. Through his WARPED nights, he laid the foundation for an exceptionally credible dance music scene.

For this one we're really glad to introduce Tobhias Guerrero!

Tobhias Guerrero, Quito, Ecuador. Conceptualism in terms of electronic music and definitions, owner of “Conceptual Formula,” a label that seeks innovation, quality, and rhythm. Guerrero’s sessions are quite danceable, tribal, hypnotic, minimalist, and futuristic. The main idea of his concept is to bring the organic into a modern context in terms of musical production. Playing with the functionality of elements and their different thematic and conceptual expressions. His tracks have been supported by artists such as Remco Beekwilder, Ala Rico, Egotot, Jack Fresia, Vinicious Honorio, Lindsey Herbert, Max Gardner, Marron, LYRIC, A. Morgan, Victoria Mussi, Volpe, among others.

Guerrero has performed at the most emblematic venues in his country, such as Lost Beach Club, Bassick, Lost City, Sonoro, Club Blues, Jungle Groove, Dirty Sanchez, BPM, Deviance, Club Catedral, Groove, Teatro Bolivar. He was also in Bogotá at Modular Club and Radio Radionica. Tobhias has shared the booth with artists such as Charlotte de Witte, Developer, Dax J, Rikther, Common Poetry, SPFDJ, Fiedel, Agents of Time, Heiko Laux, Cleric, Marla Singer, Gotshell, Ricardo Garduno.

Last September we launched a remix competition for the "Thought Patterns" track by The New Human.

It was the first track on his "Proximity Mantra" album. A minimalistic and stripped back opener that provided the perfect introduction to the emotional depth that runs throughout a release that was deeply personal for the producer.

Here, on this six track EP we first offer up the original track and the original remix by Fragile X before moving into the two remixes that were selected from the plethora of amazing entries we received.

First up, Jilk do what Jilk do best and completely dissect the original track before piecing it back together and stitching their signature offbeat patterns and audio palettes to create a wonderfully peculiar soundscape.

Next up, Human Concept breezes in gently with the perfect combo of downtempo bleeps and beats before effortlessly elevating the track to new realms with a blend of breaks and drum n bass.

The penultimate track sees a brand new track from Fragile X. "Solvitur Ambulando" is a track inspired by "Thought Patterns" and the "Proximity Mantra" album as a whole. Bringing together elements of ambient and electronica for dark and deep excursion.

The New Human himself closes out the release with his own reworked version of "Thought Patterns" titled "Final Thoughts" where he creates a denser, more layered version of the original. Completed with additional spring-like melodies and cleverly executed vocal samples of some of the feedback for the "Proximity Mantra" album. Namely, Kate Bosworth at Dark Train and Steph McColgan at Snack Mag / EWTPTH.

It's the ideal full stop on the EP and perfect way to enter 2025.

We hope you can find this EP to be an electronic refuge for tired minds.

"Anáil" translates as "breathe" in Gaelic.

All proceeds from "Anáil" will be donated to the Scottish Action for Mental Health platform.

He is a London based DJ and co-founder of @fragment_ldn which is a non-profit collective promoting local artists and pushing hypnotic techno and groove in the capital. His own style shifts between dark and more uplifting sounds depending on his mood and the occasion. He draws inspiration from the local scene but also largely from his experiences of the Amsterdam and Berlin communities which have helped shape his sound over the years.
