Whats shakin funky people?!  We are back with Volume 198 of the series, and we head to South Africa to welcome the deep house maestros, Exotic Duo to SRS!!

Exotic_Duo (Kgopotso Shongwe) & (Mxova_dj)
Duo based in South Africa who grew up together, deeply in love with house music from an early age. Mostly inspired by deep house, soulful house, funk/disco and electronic music. They decided to work together since they are both inspired by the same sound. Exotic Duo was formed mid-2007 when they saw a gap in the industry of making music, they started playing at Parties, weddings and events. Their inspiration came from both local and international DJ’s.
In 2009 they decided to move to music production and have managed to work with a few artists. In 2014 they released their first EP called "Rooted In Me" on Podomatic which was appreciated by a lot of people.
In 2017 they signed with The Hiive Media, a multimedia company based in Johannesburg (South Africa) and have been busy on a couple of projects in different fields apart from music. In 2018 they worked on a podcast 45BEEHIIVECAST under The Hiive Media which is available on Podomatic, Spotify and iTunes. They have managed to play live sets which are available on YouTube in different venues and giving people
that different sound and vibe.
In 2019 they realized their second EP "The Other Side" under Lisztomania Records from Russia.

It is our divine pleasure to welcome back to the fold one of our favourite ever guests. We've hosted Dave twice now under the guise of both his record labels Hustler Trax and Closer To Truth and both mixes have received overwhelmingly positive responses!

Today Dave returns under his Closer To Truth Label (co-run with Alex Agore) based down in Bournemouth. Closer To Truth  focus on intrinsically deep records with luscious rolling deep basslines, elements of jazz, dreamy vocals & soul however they do suprise with the odd bit of bump 'n' swing. Their back catalogue boasts EP's from Henna Onna, Jason Hersco, Tree Threes, Immersif, Tiptoes, Milton Jackson, Marlon George & Intr0beatz to pick from just a few!

We're delighted to say that this mix features plenty of forthcoming & exclusive records signed to Closer To Truth with varied release dates from later this month to early next year. These forthcoming releases are from Rephlex, Black Chynese, Bralan Arias, Javonntte & Radic The Myth. The brainchild of previous guest to the series, Bear Winder, the OSO:DEN parties aim to push the boundaries of the deeper, soulful side of House, fusing it with underground Garage both old and new. The party comes with a simple mantra, aiming to provide a platform for artists who champion the sound, as well as the long-standing connoisseurs who led the way in the 90’s and early 00’s. We can certainly get down with that! This is echoed throughout the mix with music from Kiko Navarro, DirtyTwo, Demuja and Jimpster to name but a few.

Grooveology 018 | OSO:DEN party take-over

Get over those post Christmas blues with some post Christmas grooves from our latest guest mixer on our Grooveology series Okofunk

Okan is of Turkish heritage and grew up in Cologne Germany where he is located to this day. Growing up Okan was exposed to sounds spanning pop, breaks, dance and hip hop music before being introduced to that 90s house sound emanating out of Detroit, Chicago and New York. His career spans back to the late 90s where he and his friends threw small parties in Germany. You can hear how growing up through this era influenced his sound as he winds through a set with a mixture of classic sounding 90s house and new productions which have that classic feel!

Okan has been a resident on a number of radio outlets including Ibiza Global Radio & Radiodeep. He currently holds a regular 'weekly roundup' series for the crew at Radio Electronica which is a wonderful ride of deep house selections

His Grooveology set includes deep groovers from the likes of Radic The Myth, Intr0beatz, Carlo, Tour-Mabourg & Tucillo as well as a couple of his own productions on 'My Dreams' & 'Conflict'
