For the 11th edition of A Chance To Dance we welcome along Bournemouth based record label Closer To Truth. Their catalogue spans dusty jazz sampled deep house, filtered deep Disco, deep Soulful House and beyond and some of the best artists from the deep house genre have released on the label including Intr0beatz, Javonntte, Tiptoes, Henrik Villard, Jas Artchild, Zito Mowa, Milton Jackson & Heat Alliance.

A Chance To Dance with Closer To Truth

Welcome to the latest installment of A Chance To Dance featuring our special guest for this show, up and coming Toronto-based DJ and Producer, Jason Hersco (@jasonhersco).

With releases under his belt on multiple labels such as Closer To Truth, sister label Hustler Trax and a double EP on Apparel Music, it's fair to say that Jason's output has been second to none over the last year. Another EP on Apparel Music is on the cards, titled 'I Was Young', it's a 4-tracker due out on the 4th November. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for that one.

Jason has delivered a wonderful set for us for hour 2, featuring his own material alongside the likes of Retromigration, DJ Steaw, sunflwr and Tom Vernon.

We take care of business during the first hour or so with a whole host of new releases from Crackazat, Milton Jackson, BNinjas, Intr0beatz, Atjazz, Jan Janssen and Aroop Roy amongst others. After our last edition of A Chance To Dance saw us host New York based Will Buck we return to home soil here in the UK this week where we are joined by Liverpool based DJ & producer Petals In Sound. 

Petals in Sound (Louise Baldwin) is a UK-based producer and DJ. After over a decade of living, working and partying in Southeast London, Petals In Sound recently relocated to Crosby in Liverpool.   

She has released music on labels such as Closer To Truth, Dirt Crew Records and DJ Spens Unquantize Records which have picked up support on the likes of NTS and the Slothboogie Radio Show. 

Her unique sound has been described as atmospheric house combined with deep electronica, whilst maintaining a deep house, jazz-like feel to her productions. She counts everyone from Daniel Avery to Chaos in the CBD as big influences. Catch her brilliant guest mix during hour 2!

A Chance To Dance with Faro

Entering into 2023 with our first edition of A Chance To Dance of the year. For the second time in the series we venture out to South Africa where we are joined by SA sensation Young Molz. Away from the immensely popular Afro sounds that eminate from the area, is a movement dominated by hazy deep rolling grooves. Young Molz is a master of this sound, which is very similar musically to BNinjas who we hosted back in April (available on Soundcloud)

Giving you A Chance To Dance this week is Irish-born, London-based DJ and Producer, Tree Threes.

Jamie first came onto our radar following his more recent releases on Huster Trax and sister label, Closer To Truth but its fair to say that we were a little late to the party in discovering a producer who really knows how to lay down a classic-house inspired deep house track.

With releases over the last few years on labels such as House Salad Music, Elevation Recordings in Ireland, Kolour Recordings and not to mention a debut release on the mighty Nervous Records, Tree Threes has achieved a lot in a relatively short space of time. And if, like us, you were a little late in discovering his talents then there is no time like the present to follow his production journey, with forthcoming releases due on a new V.A compilation for Morris Audio, Vol.2 & Vol.3 on House Salad Music, Fri by Frikado and a brand new label co-owned by Hurlee & Esuoh. A Chance To Dance returns with the first edition of February. We have been enjoying so much variety across the many shades of new deep house releases this month.

Starting soulfully, we enjoy some vocal goodness from Smthing smtime on the fantastic new Razor-N-Tape VA which accompanies other great records from 
Wajeed, KVRBVO & Black Chynese. Hitting with a more punchier & dubbier sound comes new ones from Melboure Drum Authority & Fouk.

Mallorca based ESUOH don't release that often, but when they do its always top notch. Hurlees Keep It Real EP displays that classic house sound the label is renowned for and we are here for it! Also included are double whammys from Demuja, a piano stabber from Saison and a little classic from John Billick.

Tune of the session for us though is handed to the new Ben Hauke release on Last Year At Marienbad with the EPs new teaser 'Watch Me Now'.

Joining us this week is a very good friend of ours. He's the first guest to appear across both of our radio shows having been on That Disco Groove back in 2021. Since then, T Sounds has refined his music into a wonderful blend of rolling and deep hypnotic grooves. He has poured the passion from his life experiences into a number of beautiful releases over the past few years. They have earned huge support, take Berry Picker for example, which is now on its approach to 200k listens having been premiered by house heavyweight Houseum. Over the past year he has released on TheBasement Discos, Rewind & Miura with chart support from Reece Johnson, Alex Moiss, Simplex Motive & Doorly. His guest mix is a great interpretation of deep house through his eyes, and with 23 (yes 23!) tracks in one hour, including some of his own productions, it creates plenty of ear raising moments! We’re back with another installment of A Chance To Dance and we’re delighed to have up-and-coming South African DJ & Producer, Black Chynese (@mandla-luu) joining us on the platform for hour 2 with his wonderfully constructed guest-mix.

A self-taught production talent, Mandla has been on our radar since last year following a release on ThreeRecords and his ‘Fictional Minds’ EP on Closer To Truth, which featured on previous episodes of the show. Already charted by notable names in the scene such as Jimpster and Soul Central, his music has featured on heavyweight shows from the likes of Freerange Records and Radio Electronica. Citing a diverse range of musical influences including Floating Points, Andre Lodemann and Henrik Villard through to Dam Swindle, Crackazat and FOUK, he assures us that he has future projects in the works and a new forthcoming EP so keep your eyes and ears open for that. Of course, his mix does not dissapoint with a potent blend of deep, chunky 4/4 house, soulful vocals and more atmospheric tones that build the energy levels perfectly as the hour progresses.

We occupy hour 1 as usual, bringing you fresh releases from the last 4 weeks or so. Highlights include the dreamy ‘Dromedary Twist’ from Session Victim, the incredible vocals of Kenny Bobien teaming up with Kengo on ‘More Than You’ll Ever Know’ by way of Makin’ Moves Records and garage flavours from Plastik People boss, Marc Cotterell with ‘Is Love A Game’. We’ve also got Carlo with ’Sir Charlie Moon’, part of the ‘Dewax’ release on Aterral which features a small collection only previously heard on vinyl. And speaking of vinyl, there’s some serious jackin 4/4 goodness from Evenn who brings us ‘Time Bomb’, part of GLBDOM’s second 12” release entitled ‘GDWAX002’

Our guest this week is on a whipround tour of Japan and has played everywhere from the quirky low key venues in Tokyo right through to the iconic Womb club. 

The Armenian DJ & Producer flexes across multiple styles of deep house from dubby and heavy on the low end to more eclectic lofi grooves. 

Over the past few years she's struck up releases on multiple renowned deep house labels such as Closer To Truth, Lizstomania, Rewind, Blur & House Salad and her solid production has attracted some huge remixers including those of Simplex Motive & Heat Alliance! 

Her latest release is the Midori No Basho EP from our good friends at Closer To Truth.

A Chance To Dance with Henna Onna

We make a return to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's vibrant deep-house scene as we are delighted to welcome DJ, producer and label boss, Baloo to the platform for hour 2 of the show.

Alongside a release on Aterral, he also delivered a 2-track collaboration with Carlo as part of the debut release on his own Gabu Records imprint, and has graced the decks alongside the likes of Black Loops and Dyed Soundorom, as well as the legendary Louie Vega at destinations from Ibiza, to the Carribean and beyond. 

Taking us on a journey through the deep, Baloo captures and holds the vibe perfectly with a bumpy set that ebbs and flows from disco-kissed samples, through to minimal beats and melodic flavours.
