Time for some fun facts!
I originally wanted Lila Lumley to sing this song, but I thought I’d give her a break. She’s already played a major part in this album, thanks so much Lila!

I thought this was going to be the only pop song on the album, but more came along. 

I used Ableton Live and Auxy Studio for this album, rather than Medly and Auxy Studio. My weak point is mixing!

Some people can’t tell if this is a happy song or a sad song. I think it’s neither of those.

If you really think about it, there really is no “true happy”. In this case, true happy is happiness that’s not accompanied by any other emotions. And wether they’re in the center of your brain, where you notice them, or they’re way back in that corner of your brain you never think about, those emotions are always with you.

In case you didn’t play Pikmin 2, the name of this song is also the name of the last cave in Pikmin 2. When I think about Polar Tropic (the cave, not the album), I picture the Dream Den. But I also picture something else. My memories.

This song is the least played on the album. I appreciate it if you are one of the 80 people who’ve played it!

Simpler Complex and Lila Lumley - Bounce

This was the first song I made for this album. The melody (A, A, A, A-G-C, C, C, C-G-D, D, D, D, E-G-A, C, B) is at least 2 years old now. I binned it in 2019, but then I was browsing in around April this year. I found the melody again and it inspired a vision. The vision of this album. And the rest, as they say… is history.

Simpler Complex  - You Set Me Free

I am leaving a better first impression this time, don’t you think? (It’s better than Polar Tropic’s first song, The World.) It’s a nice fun introduction to the album, and it’s fairly long.

Sort of a gritty hip hop song. It was actually intended to be on Polar Tropic, but it fits better here. I’m not going to pull the “recycling bin” trick where you put the same song on multiple albums.

I feel like this one shows how much I’ve improved over the years, but the lyrics are very dark.

This one is really good. The production is some of my best.

I think teens could sort of relate to this song, because it seems like sometimes they just want to be alone. But I wouldn’t know, because I’m not a teen.

A minimalistic little rap song. It’s almost bouncy, because of all the volume automation.

Simpler Complex  - Red Herring

“If you liked “there is no true happy”, you’ll love this one.” That’s what I said back in November 2021. I found out that my attempt to emulate the vibe of There Is No True Happy was unsuccessful, but it did bring a different vibe. I don’t need to make all my songs sound the same!
You might notice the bells in the background, which try to induce sort of a fairy-tale vibe, but the bass and the beat keeps it rolling.

Simpler Complex - Telling Stories

I had the idea for this one in a dream. 
It sort of has a generic pop vibe. The reason this one is on the album is that it still tells my story for the album, just like the other ones. The hip hop style can also get a little repetitive btw.

Simpler Complex - Carry Me

This is so short, it could be an interlude, but I decided to let it be a song. It has a big message. And it’s also long enough.
The music in my opinion is really good (not to brag lol, I did produce it after all). I should have spent more time on it, so it could be longer, but oh well!

One of my personal faves. This is of the three “area songs”. “The Springs” refers to Pikmin 1’s “Distant Spring”.

This is another one of my favorites!

This song is the second area song. If you are a fellow Pikmin fan, you can probably guess that “The Woods” refers to Pikmin 1’s “Forest of Hope” (as well as Pikmin 2’s “Awakening Wood”, but they’re the same place). In a way, the production for this one also reminds me of Memphis rap.
