What started as a few experiments and mucking around with some compositional techniques turned into a fully realised track. A lot more restrained than it started out as, but learnt a lot of what was working, what translated well and what didn't.

I wanted to leave this track on a positive note, which reflects Geoff best. 

The abrupt end is intentional, it's how we all felt when we heard the news. Silence.

It’s mad March 2012 in Adelaide and it’s all about The Fringe, party’s and having fun in the hot Adelaide nights. This weeks track is about cherishing your youth while you can. I’m back teaching again and seem to be around a lot of young people for various reasons. I keep thinking to myself – I hope they realise and enjoy what they have in front of them sooner rather than later. 'Our Expectations' also touches on changes in the world and how we will all cope with taking over the world our parents left us.

Our Expectations

It’s something about dream states and senses we can’t explain this week. I’m not sure why it was resonant for me this week but something tweaked it. This week was going to be an instrumental, a little more understated and relaxed. But again I was inspired by something I heard this week that was literally in passing playing on the radio somewhere. I grabbed as much music info I could from it in the 30seconds I was listening to it so I could bring a couple of those ideas in the studio as a starting point.

Something to beat the colder days? A summery acoustic track came out of nowhere this week sporting a nice light feel. The lyrics however are from a deeper place.
