"Applying simple melodies to energizing and artsy pop/rock style features, the Boston-born trio first assembled in 1997 after the break-up of King and Pollard's previous band, the doosies. Consistently putting together a respectable fan base at local clubs, The Control Group eventually gained considerable airplay on the radio due to their catchy and thrilling themes. Inspired by the tunes of bands such as Radiohead and Pixies, the three-piece released their defining album in 2000. "An Elaborate System of Pulleys and Levers" corroborated the band's aptness in constructing shattering melodies and rocking themes, endorsing the band's success on the Boston music scene." The band played its' last show on January 24, 2002."

"The Control Group was a Boston-based band operating in the late 1990s. They played well crafted melodic rock music which served as a profound mating call; most, if not all, of the members have had success to varying levels with dating, marriage, mating, and spawning progeny with female members of their species. The band was born from the ashes of The Doosies, which featured several of the same members. Their live performances showcased their aggressively self-effacing stage banter and an affinity for rock’s rich pageant of riffage. A reunion show was held in Boston in late 2007."
