I'm not sure what inspired this except a sudden fascination with changing around the old children's prayer "If I should die before I wake". A love song into which I brought some iconic symbols of New York City as images of love lost. Memories of the past, a dark prison within his former shiny city of happiness, but ultimately some hope that these special places might revive his heart once more, somehow. This is a short story of a young boy whose grandmother has a flair for portraying her Irish roots whenever her grandson comes to visit. Although it's all just in fun, the boy grows up to remember fondly those days of singing and adoring her with every moment.
