Susan Lily & Darren Scott - Fly In, Fly Out

With 'trucking' songs as some of his most resonant memories, Darren Scott has penned his own as a tribute to all of the great songs about life on the road. In 'Back On The Road', Darren has drawn upon personal recollections and stories to create a conflicted, yet overwhelmingly optimistic character. 

"Before driving, this guy had tried it all - from the pulpit to the classroom, to the courtroom" says Darren. "This is someone who just can't help but keep moving on, perhaps to the detriment of family." 

With his debut album a few months away, Darren Scott chose to step outside of the studio to write, play and produce this newly-penned track entirely by himself. 'Back On The Road' was conceived and recorded by Darren within the space of a few days during September 2011 and is the ideal form of introduction for this emerging singer-songwriter.

I'm thrilled to announce the release of my single 'Days Away'. This is a follow-up to my 2011 debut single 'Back On The Road'. The track explores the ups and downs and complexities of being far away from our loved ones.
 
Back in February 2012 I had the opportunity to visit some gorgeous locations in Taiwan. Naturally, I took full advantage and shot a music video for ‘Days Away’.

‘In The Past’ is a fun, tongue-in-cheek rant from a grumpy old man, disillusioned by today’s society and its ‘fun police’.

Darren Scott's latest release ‘One More Mile’ sees this accomplished writer and performer realise his music and sound as never before.  As with previous releases, Darren weaves a tale of intrigue and truth, sung from the heart.

“I remember my father telling the story of his journey from Wagga Wagga to his father’s funeral in Toowoomba.  He’d shattered a windscreen and had no option but to battle on through the freezing wind.  This imagery formed the basis of the song”, explains Darren.

Departing from his previous approach of playing/singing all parts himself, Darren enlisted some of the country’s finest musicians to collaborate on One More Mile.

“Through a perfect alignment of planets or possibly some sort of clerical mix-up, I managed to enlist the exquisite, iconic voice of Susie Ahern, steel master Michel Rose and keyboard guru Stefan Nowak”, Darren says.

Co-produced and mixed by Darren’s brother Glenn at his studio ‘The Wick’, One More Mile is an epic ballad, sure to connect with a diverse range of listeners.

Since picking up a violin at the age of 7, Australian singer-songwriter Darren Scott has immersed himself in music. Since his teens, Darren has taken to the stage, studio and road with an extensive list of nationally and internationally renowned artists, paying his dues the traditional way.

As a well-seasoned session and touring musician, Darren Scott is certainly no stranger to life on the road. His musical journeys have taken him from gospel bands and cabaret acts to sharing the stage with artists such as Jimmy Little, Troy Cassar-Daley, 8 Ball Aitken and Margret RoadKnight.
