"As I walk on the asphalt, the all too familiar sights and sounds of the city overtake me. The cacophonous roar of automobile horns and police sirens, stench of exhaust, flickering street lights, and the people who lie in between.

Rancid decay of pavement.
Abandoned properties with faded signs reliving the dreams that were lost to time.
Countless corner liquor stores and churches materializing, providing a temporary escape from the torments of daily reality in exchange for tithes.
Rattling of sticks hitting buckets reminiscent of the syncopated rhythms of Africa.

I look to the smog along the horizon and the sides of my lips begin to curl into a grin. The beauty of a location lies not on the surface, but within the souls of its inhabitants. That is where our home rests."
