John wrote “This Is My Job” while deep in the throes of a crappy job. The lyrics scream for themselves. That’s life in these days on Earth, right? But John’s message to others (and to himself) in this song is: DO WHAT YOU LOVE TODAY or you could forever be slaving away at a job you hate. Think free!

About The Days on Earth:
The Days on Earth is an ongoing project some 40 years in the making to release the songs that for some reason have found a home in John Gregory's head- and to hopefully prove Lao Tzu’s belief that “Music in the soul can be heard by the Universe.”
 
John is working on his 6th or 7th life at present, having most recently been stuck in a job he hated but couldn't quit because he needed the money. Same old story. But this year he finally took the leap off the proverbial cliff, still needs money, but at least hasn't hit rock bottom (yet). Of course, we're visualizing a happy ending.

This Is My Job

The Days on Earth is an ongoing project, not a band. Live performances of these songs happen every day, in the creator's mind so that "Music in the soul can be heard by the universe."

Track 1: "To Save My Life" jumps in with both feet. It marks a new chapter by asking a very big question: "Will I?" After all these years, I still don't know the answer to that one.

Track 2: "This Is My Job" is about the American Dream (or nightmare, as too often it turns out to be).

Track 3: "Someday" is a series of stream-of-consciousness word pictures that point to the future with optimism despite it all.

Track 4: "One Day at a Time" is a fitting end to another day (that just blew on by again)...

This EP is highly lyrics‑centered. Notable musical influences include The Beatles (of course), perhaps a little Radiohead, definitely some Motown, with some RHCP's thrown in (with any luck??).. And many others.
