Iolanda Cristina Gigliotti, dite Dalida, née le 17 janvier 1933 au Caire (Égypte) et morte le 3 mai 1987 à Paris 18e (France), est une chanteuse et actrice italienne naturalisée française.

Issue d'une famille italienne installée en Égypte, elle participe à des concours de beauté au début des années 1950 et tourne quelques films au Caire. Résidant en France à partir de 1954, elle connaît son premier succès de chanteuse avec le titre Bambino en 1956. Se façonnant un répertoire regroupant plus de sept cents chansons interprétées en plusieurs langues, elle devient une grande figure de la chanson française et bénéficie d'une popularité dépassant la scène francophone.

Parmi ses chansons les plus connues, figurent Come prima, Les Gitans, Gondolier, Bambino, Les Enfants du Pirée, Itsi bitsi petit bikini, La Danse de Zorba, Bonsoir mon amour, Le Temps des fleurs, Darla dirladada, Paroles... Paroles..., Gigi l'amoroso, Il venait d'avoir 18 ans, Salma Ya Salama, Laissez-moi danser, Gigi in paradisco et Mourir sur scène. Embrassant plusieurs styles musicaux, tels que le twist, la pop et le raï, elle est également une des premières artistes françaises à interpréter des chansons disco avec les titres J'attendrai et Bésame mucho.

Souffrant d’une dépression — en raison notamment d'une succession de drames personnels —, elle se suicide quelques mois après avoir été l'actrice principale du film dramatique égyptien Le Sixième Jour. Sa vie privée et sa mort font d'elle une icône au destin tragique.

Bernard Ouillon, known as Bernard Lavilliers, is a French singer-songwriter, born on October 7, 1946 in Saint-Étienne or Firminy depending on the source.

Active since 1965, Lavilliers is known for his unique blend of French song, rock, reggae, salsa and bossa nova. His musical career is marked by travels around the world, particularly in Latin America, which have influenced his style and lyrics.

Beyond his musical career, Lavilliers is also an actor and has been associated with various political and social movements throughout his life. In particular, he supported the workers in struggle, the Lorraine steelworkers and was involved against the Belo Monte dam in favor of the Amerindians.

"Uska Dara" ("A Turkish Tale") is a 1953 song made famous by Eartha Kitt, and also recorded by Eydie Gormé. It is based on the Turkish folk song "Kâtibim" about a woman and her secretary traveling to Üsküdar. On early American recordings, this adaptation is credited to Stella Lee.

Kitt first heard the song "Kâtibim" at a local bar when she was in Istanbul as a member of the Katherine Dunham Company, and began performing it herself; the song received abundant play in Ankara Radio and became a hit. She then recorded "Uska Dara" with Henri René and his orchestra at Manhattan Center, New York City, on March 13, 1953. The song was released by RCA Victor Records as catalog number 20-5284 (in USA) and by EMI on the His Master's Voice label as catalog number B 10573. Kitt's recording sold 120,000 copies when it was first released by RCA Victor in 1953. Kitt later performed the song in the 1954 film New Faces, and included the song in her cabaret act, in which she culminated the number with a belly dance. The song appears on her albums RCA Victor Presents Eartha Kitt (1953) and That Bad Eartha (1955).

The 1978 disco song "Rasputin" by Boney M uses part of the melody of "Kâtibim", and mimics the line "Oh! those Turks" (as "Oh! those Russians") at the end of the song.

Leftfield is a British electronic music group formed in 1989 in London, England. The group initially consisted of Paul Daley and Neil Barnes, before Daley left in 2002, leading to the group's dissolution, and then his return with Barnes as the sole leader in 2010.


They were among the first to fuse house with dub and reggae, thus giving birth to progressive house. They were pioneers in integrating vocals into electronic music.


In 1995, their album Leftism managed to reach the third place in the UK sales chart. In 1999, the album Rhythm And Stealth reached the top of the English charts.

Nordic Rituals  season 2 by Jack Essek

Danheim (real name Mike Schæfer Olsen; born in 1985, Brøndby, Denmark) is a Danish ambient and Nordic folk musician
Olsen was born in Copenhagen in 1985 and produced mostly in the electronic genre until 2016, when a strong interest in Norse mythology led him start combining that with his music. His stage name approximately means Danish Home, taken from the Old Norse language word 'heim', meaning home.

Since 2016, Danheim has released eight records on his own independent label. His style has been described by reviewers as 'Brian Eno doing the soundtrack for Game of Thrones' or 'inspired folk music, with dark undertones'. Lyrically, his music deals with such mythological tales as Hrungnir's fight with Thor, the story of Fimbul Winter and much more.

In his 2019 release Hringrás, Danheim recorded the last three minutes of a track using only parts of dead plants and animals, as well as some real human bones.

In 2019, Danheim also contributed music to the soundtrack of three episodes from the second half of the sixth season of the History Channel series Vikings. One of the actors from the show, Georgia Hirst, enjoyed Danheim's contributions to the score so much that she released a social media video praising his music.

As of January 2020, his YouTube channel receives an average of 90,000 new viewers each day. He has 247,000 subscribers and over 50 million video views in total.

In March 2020 Danheim released his third full-length album of 11 tracks, Skapanir.  He decided to release the album earlier than planned, to help entertain his fans under lock-down or in isolation due to the 2020 Coronavirus/COVID-19 Pandemic. Reviewers praised the album's 'visceral and hypnotic' composition, and noted the varied instrumentation that produced a 'multidimensional Viking soundbath'. Teemu Esko of Kaos Magazine called Skapanir 'versatile and touching, while rich and immersive'
