Hello Beautiful Souls,

Here's my last set I've created for THIS IS HOUSE: LIVE 
Shot at Parc de Dieppe at -40 degrees so it was quite a challenge!

For this Set I was inspired by a more melodic arrangement with a tribal flavor. An amalgam of percussions dark vocals and broken synthesizer which reflects my taste for complicated mashup.

I want to say a special thank you to all the production team for having set up this crazy projet.

Time to free your mind and enjoy this after hours special moment!

Dive into a blend of classy tech house, creative techno, and afro house with Chorniy, also known as the Director of Bonfires and Picniqs @ Brigada, experience the beats that ignite Toronto's underground party scene.

His journey into the world of entertainment began as a club promoter in Toronto's bustling entertainment district, specifically on the iconic Richmond St.

It wasn’t long before he found himself deeply immersed in the after-hour club scene, where the music was not only better but transformative. He cultivated an ability to distinguish and dissect various sounds, which he could then replicate on multiple instruments, including the piano, drums, bass, guitar, and the Sopilka, a traditional Ukrainian woodwind instrument. This was his Eureka moment – he discovered that he could create music too!

His mother recalls him, at three years old, listening to her play the piano and saying, "Mom, can't you hear that's an A and not B flat?" This natural ability helped shape his musical journey.

Around 2010, he started experimenting with Ableton. This tinkering led to a few notable releases and ultimately the formation of the renowned duo Rafwat & Chorniy. Their partnership yielded incredible success and memorable experiences.

During this period, he began inviting some of their current Brigada boys to his annual birthday rituals. These gatherings took place in a variety of unique locations such as parks, beaches, and other discrete spots around the city. Brigada quickly became known for throwing the best off-the-grid parties in Toronto. These events were mostly invite-only, with locations announced at the last minute. They built a community of dedicated followers who valued the great vibes, music, people, and bonfires. In 2020, they hosted the only party of the year in a ravine near his house, which was praised for its positive impact on mental health. One attendee remarked, "I could tear up that the city still has a pulse."

This is how Brigada Bonfire came into existence!

The year 2023 was marked with a significant spiritual awakening. He managed to release 30 years of pent-up anger and frustration caused by traumatic experiences with Soviet-era music teachers who were physically and emotionally abusive, punishing students for singing off-key. This realization shed light on why he had never fully and wholeheartedly pursued a music career. Now, with this newfound clarity and freedom, his creativity is flowing like never before, and he is incredibly excited about what the future holds.

He describes his current style as a fusion of classy tech house, creative techno, and a splash of Afro house for flow, reflecting a journey of healing and musical exploration.
