“Pioneer Cream” continues the Pioneer Valley song series that began with “Pioneer Valley Spuds,” “Pioneer Peaches,” and “Pioneer Valley Sunshine.” Inspired by Bar-Way Farm in Deerfield being named the 2025 Massachusetts Dairy Farm of the Year, it celebrates the honest rhythm of local agriculture — the kind that binds the Valley’s past and future through hard work, care for the land, and the quiet harmony of cows, fields, and rising mist. 


Verse 1
Down by the Deerfield River bend, where the fog rolls off the plain,
Bar-Way cows graze soft at dawn through the silver autumn rain.
They've turned milk to gold through steady hands, through storms and seasons long,
And the hum of the digester drum keeps time to the milking song.

Chorus
Raise your voice for the Valley green,
Where the spuds and peaches grow serene.
From the sun to the soil, it's a living dream-
Now the crown belongs to Pioneer Cream.

I sang of spuds in Hadley loam, and peaches by Sunderland's sky,

But this tune's for Deerfield's dairymen, whose work begins before the dawn,
