The request was from @lorbsheddy, who requested:

"a forest/adventurous theme with most or all including a 5/8 clave, woodwinds as focal instruments! bonus points for some cool world/traditional instruments!"

This was an awesome (challenging) request! I decided to write a song for Strings, Brass and some instruments and percussion with origins from the Middle East. The lead woodwind instrument is an Egyptian "Ney". Other points of interest: Mandolins! A Dulcimer! Plus the Choir in the last section!

This project was so CPU heavy that I actually couldn't listen to the project without it crashing, so I initially just mixed it blind based on how I thought it needed to sound. I managed to get a clean export and the mix was, actually pretty good??? Must be a Christmas miracle.

7 Years was finished over a year ago and was never intended to be released, but I felt it would be wrong to end TheDiabolicalWaffle without it.
I've had the date December 1 locked in for a long time. I was supposed to have new music ready for a rebrand, but my struggles with mental health and various other issues prevented me from seeing anything I was proud of through to completion.

TheDiabolicalWaffle is a moniker I've wanted to shed for a long time now. It was something I thought of in my early teens and have been ridiculed for many times over the years. I grew tired of it but felt like I couldn't change without an excuse or improvements in the music.

I feel a sense of guilt that in the year where I've had more time to work on music than ever before, I've spent the least amount of time doing so. It became a source of stress rather than enjoyment, and my desire for a new sound ultimately prevented me from completing anything.

I'm not quitting music. I'm taking a hiatus until I can create music that I'm happy with again, at which point I will be rebranding.

Thanks to those who read to this point. I'm sure I'll find the strength to thank those who have stuck with me properly one day. <3
