A longtime advocate of mental health awareness, Folklaur gets vulnerable and honest in "Seasonal" about the monotony of her depression and how it shifts form throughout the year and at different stages of relationships. This indie-folk song, with a hint of pop, features soothing vocals and glimmering guitars, closing out the album on an optimistic note. Although written in 2019, the song takes a new personal meaning for Folklaur and her brother, producer Justin Scott, after their father died by suicide in March. 2020 has been unimaginable on all accounts, but Folklaur reminds herself as much as others: "If I lived through it, then I will live through this." This song is an anthem to survival and the rebirth that can follow.

Your Window

Dirty Bird hails from the concrete woodlands of New York City, and consists of Christie Belanger, Melissa Escudero, Natasha Thweatt, Julia Conrad, Nick Katz, and Blake Suben. Though the band is young, each member has spent his or her life grounded in music. With roots going back to New York’s renowned arts school LaGuardia High School, the members of Dirty Bird reconnected in 2016, and in true New York style bring a wide variety of musical backgrounds—ranging from jazz to bluegrass to classical—together in one vibrant and wholly original folk sound.

Since forming, the band has presented powerful performances to venues around the Northeast, including Rockwood Music Hall, Mass MoCa and Radio Bean, and the Northside Music Festival. Dirty Bird brings both new and long-devoted audiences intimate, poetic lyrics charged by three-part harmony and lively, distinctive arrangements. Soulful, harmonious, and ever-evolving, Dirty Bird’s music redefines what it means to be a folk band.
