DJ Astronaut (birth name Derick Abram) is a Dallas, TX native who has been DJing since 1992 and hasn’t stopped touching turntables ever since. He worked in the music industry for years as an intern for Motown Records and then moved to Island/Def Jam Records. Through the years he’s had the pleasure of working with many celebrities including Jay-Z, Ludacris, Erykah Badu, Lil Jon, Montell Jordan, Brian McKnight, Ying Yang Twins, LL Cool J, Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman, Jessica Simpson, Tyrese, Shemar Moore, and many more. 
            His music style comes from his early years of playing the drums in his high school band and with the World Famous Grambling State University Tiger Marching Band, all while working as a radio host and mixshow DJ. This music education created a love of many music genres including jazz, hip hop, house, pop, country, Top 40 and many others. This diversity in sound garnered him as a musical connoisseur opening the doors for him to perform at many venues and events for various companies including Verizon, KPMG, Macy’s, Tampax, AT&T Stadium, Lifetime Fitness, The Ross Perot Museum of Science & Nature, The Sunglass Hut, Dominos Pizza, TOMS Shoes, Stonebriar Country Club, NorthPark Mall, and more. He can perform for any occasion from a corporate banquet,  party, wedding, or school event to a nightclub, bar, or national tour.
            DJ Astronaut (formerly known as DJ Shadow “Of The South”) has had the pleasure of DJing in numerous cities and states across the US and is continuously adding more to his list. With all of the success in his career, his love for music will continue to flourish through his Turntablism and will remain steadfast in creating long lasting relationships with happy customers and clients.
