Defected Presents For the Love of House

A lament  about the state of affairs at the beginning of the Reagan years. 

With respect, I cut and rearranged it extensively, keeping what I felt were still the most relevant lyrics for 2013.
Although there were a number of short instrumental parts later in the track, there was  literally no clean loop for the introduction so I had to create one by cutting and splicing small grabs from the main body of the tune and reconstructing a series of instrumental loops for this purpose. 

The structure of the original is introduction _ poem _ song. 
I rearranged this using the song parts as a chorus with the selected poem parts as a form of verse in between, and attempted to keep true to the flow and build of the original. Not too heavy but still to the point. 

Added some extra drums for more stomp, some subtle effects and layering of bass sections. Moved the tempo up to 107. Hope you enjoy it!

Pierre-Claver Akendengué (born April 25, 1943) is a musician and composer from Gabon. In 1997, he received his country's "Prix d'excellence" at the Africa Music awards in Libreville, honoring his body of work. He also serves as a cultural advisor for the government of Gabon.

Born on the island of Awuta, which is located just off the coast from Port-Gentil, Akendengué went to school in Port-Gentil, then studied psychology at the University of Caen in France during the 1960s. While in France, he met singer Mireille, who encouraged his musical interests.

In 1974, Akendengué recorded his first album, Nandipo, which consisted of songs of his own composition, sung in French and Nkomi, accompanied by guitar, women choir, bass and the percussion of Nana Vasconcelos. He later set to music poems by P. E. Mondjegou, such as "Le Chant du Coupeur d'Okoumé" ("The Song of the Okoumé Cutter"). Returning to Gabon, he studied solfeggio and plainchant at a Catholic college, and presented spectacles showcasing traditional Gabonese forms in a concert setting.

In 1986, he received a doctorate from the University of Paris for his study of religion and education among the Nkomi.

Starting out in the mid 90s as a founding member of Japan’s first female reggae sound system, DJ Mihoko toured her home nation extensively, while taking occasional trips to Jamaica to cut dub plates. 

Moving to New York City in 1998, Mihoko soon picked up a number of residencies and guest spots at venues such as the Limelight, Speed, Cheetha, Lotus and 60 Thompson. Adapting to New York’s genre spanning club scene, she became well versed in blending a wide variety of musical styles including hip-hop, soul, funk, disco,boogie,afro-beat and house, while still drawing heavily on her reggae roots.
