He was legend they don’t make music like this anymore respect

Legend of the man that sells it to every genre and generation of the world.

There’s not many DJs who would be as amazing playing happy hardcore as they were gabber or 90s jungle, or piano house or hip hop but Stu Allan could (and did) it all. He would go from playing jungle at Quest in Wolverhampton to playing hard gabber at Doncaster Warehouse with ease and he had fans in every genre. He will be very missed.

As a bit of a genre hopper myself, the loss of this legend makes me realise there’s not many people like him left, dance music is so compartmentalised these days and you rarely find people into different styles of rave music. As a kid in the late 90s I didn’t even know he had a weekly radio show in Manchester, I’m only just listening to them now and realising how great he was on the radio too, always pushing new music whatever the style.

My Dad died a year ago this week from cancer and Stu’s passing has brought a lot of tears to my eyes the last few days, reading tributes from people like Carl Cox, Slipmatt, Grooverider, Brisk, they all loved and respected Stu so much and it brings home how much of a father figure he was in dance music, I’m not sure there’s another like him out there.

This week all I’ve listened to is Stu Allan sets, all his radio shows are on YouTube and soundcloud and I’ve been hammering them. Stu Allan you have my total respect...this mix is for you.
